Position Summary
The Health and Safety Officer is integral in cultivating and sustaining a proactive safety ethos within our logistics and warehousing environments. This role ensures adherence to health and safety laws, company standards, and the ISO 45001 framework while enhancing operational quality and safety.

Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and associated regulations.
- Develop and uphold health and safety policies and procedures complying with ISO 45001.
- Collaborate closely with operational leaders to nurture a safety-oriented workplace culture.
- Carry out safety inspections, audits, and risk evaluations, ensuring remedial measures are implemented.
- Lead thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, and first aid occurrences.
- Maintain and update the Risk and Opportunity Register while promoting continuous safety improvements.
- Review and enhance safety protocols involving warehouse vehicles, battery charging, manual handling, and work at heights.
- Conduct inductions, toolbox talks, and comprehensive safety training sessions for staff.
- Track and report on key safety performance indicators and trends regularly.
- Keep accurate records and documentation for all safety activities.
- Organize and manage emergency preparedness drills and activities.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external entities to ensure compliance and best practices.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Mandatory qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH certification, Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in a health and safety capacity within logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Strong expertise in Irish health and safety legislation.
- Prior involvement with ISO 45001 management systems.
- Proven ability in conducting risk assessments, investigations, and audits.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant safety reporting software.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Possession of a full driving license is considered advantageous.
