An established manufacturing business in County Limerick is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Officer. This is a practical, site-focused position that reports to the Operations Manager and plays a key part in strengthening the company’s health and safety systems, meeting Irish legal requirements, and supporting a strong zero-harm culture.
The role suits someone who is comfortable being present on the production floor, working closely with employees at every level, and turning safety priorities into day-to-day improvements across a busy manufacturing site.
Key responsibilities
- Help put health and safety policies, procedures and safe working systems into practice and keep them compliant.
- Offer clear health and safety guidance to managers, supervisors and staff.
- Carry out risk assessments, site inspections, audits and Gemba walks throughout the facility.
- Spot workplace hazards and support corrective measures to lower risk.
- Look into accidents, incidents, near misses and other hazardous events.
- Assist with root cause analysis and follow through on corrective and preventive actions.
- Deliver health and safety inductions and arrange refresher and legally required training.
- Encourage employee involvement and help build a positive safety culture across the site.
- Keep records, reports, KPI data and compliance paperwork up to date.
- Organise and record minutes for Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Track servicing, certification and compliance for relevant health and safety equipment.
Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Health and Safety is required.
- Ideally, you will bring at least 4 years of experience in a health and safety position within manufacturing, engineering, industrial or a similar operational setting.
- Solid working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and compliance obligations.
- Practical experience in risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors and management.
- Well-developed organisational, reporting and documentation abilities.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- A hands-on mindset with confidence to spend time on the floor and influence safe behaviours.
What is on offer
- A competitive salary package.
- A fully site-based role in a busy manufacturing environment.
- The chance to make a real difference to workplace safety and culture.
- Ongoing learning, training and professional development support.
- Strong potential for long-term career growth.
- Immediate interviews for suitable applicants.
- Salary guidance of €60,000 to €65,000, depending on experience.
