Our Fermoy, County Cork facility is FDA registered and ISO 13485:2016 certified, specializing in producing high-quality PCBAs, subassemblies, and complete devices including Class III medical devices. We focus on manufacturing automation, supporting all stages from New Product Introduction, prototyping, and process validation to volume manufacturing, testing, shipping, and repair. Job Objective

Lead the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management system within the plant, ensuring full compliance with Irish and EU legal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate health and safety activities to maintain compliance with management systems.
  • Collaborate with Management to define health and safety goals and continuously update policies and safety statements, recommending changes as needed.
  • Manage the risk assessment process and assist team leaders in developing initiatives that reduce risks. Investigate accidents and suggest corrective measures.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to uphold and enhance safety standards.
  • Design and implement accident prevention programs aligned with continuous improvement in health and safety.
  • Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions in cooperation with the training department.
  • Promote safety awareness and advocate for effective safety management practices.
  • Track and report health and safety performance to Management and Safety Committee regularly.
  • Contribute to the Aspect & Impact Register concerning health and safety.
  • Support the site's Emergency Response plans and coordinate evacuation drills.
  • Collaborate with HR to innovate methods reducing legal claims and insurance costs, preparing relevant documentation for legal defenses.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure compliance of new designs and line adjustments with safety requirements.
  • Present quarterly health and safety outcomes to the Management Team.
  • Lead the Safety Committee as chairperson and direct its activities.
  • Ensure coordinated safety training programs and adherence.
  • Align corporate health and safety policies and reporting frameworks across the site.
  • Coordinate with operational management to develop SOPs covering all safety aspects.
  • Advise all departments on managing organizational changes related to health and safety.
  • Oversee chemical management on-site.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to health and safety legislation and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holds at minimum an NQF Level 7 Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety or a related discipline.
  • Possesses over five years of practical experience in a health and safety role.
  • Demonstrated ability to expand the health and safety function within a management system and successfully implement change.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with ISO or OHSAS standards and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience in environmental or sustainability management.

Core Competencies

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in a managerial capacity.
