Role Overview
A global manufacturing company based in Dublin is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and enhance health, safety, and environmental management at their manufacturing facility. The role involves fostering a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation and company standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard employees and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion and embed a proactive "Safety First" ethos throughout the site.
- Engage employees and promote accountability via coaching and leadership in health and safety matters.
- Provide expert guidance on all health, safety, and environmental issues to management and staff.
- Ensure strict adherence to all Irish health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
- Support corporate and group health and safety targets and KPIs.
- Encourage ongoing learning and professional development in HSE.
- Oversee competency-based training, instruction, and access to health and safety information for employees.
- Drive initiatives on waste reduction, energy conservation, and environmental enhancement.
- Manage budget allocations and expenditures related to HSE activities as needed.
- Develop, update, and maintain policies, procedures, and management systems related to health, safety, and environment.
- Lead risk assessments, safe work systems, and workplace inspections.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of effective control measures across operations.
- Monitor compliance in areas including machine safety, contractor management, hazardous substances, manual handling, personal protective equipment, and workplace welfare.
- Maintain legal compliance registers and adherence to regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental events, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventative measures.
- Track safety trends and disseminate lessons learned across the organization.
- Coordinate internal and external HSE audits and support certification to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards as applicable.
- Analyze HSE performance metrics and report regularly to site leadership and group functions.
- Design and execute improvement plans to elevate overall HSE outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification, along with a formal HSE certification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a health, safety, and environmental role within sectors such as manufacturing, industrial, engineering, logistics, packaging, or FMCG.
- Experienced in managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Applicants must have eligibility to work in Ireland and hold a valid driving licence.
Compensation and Additional Details
The role offers a salary of up to €85,000 per annum, along with a 20% bonus and additional benefits. Only candidates eligible to work in Ireland and possessing a driving licence will be considered. Overseas applications will not be accepted.
