Role overview
Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is looking for a Health & Safety Controller to join its Phoenix team in KwaZulu-Natal. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager.
CCBA is the eighth-largest authorised Coca-Cola bottler globally by revenue and the biggest across Africa. It contributes more than 40% of Coca-Cola ready-to-drink sales on the continent by volume. Key purpose
The purpose of this position is to help the plant maintain a safe and legally compliant workplace. The role focuses on monitoring compliance with KORE and statutory safety requirements, carrying out regular inspections, supporting risk assessments, tracking incident reporting and corrective actions, keeping safety records up to date, promoting safety learning and awareness, managing contractor safety compliance, and contributing to emergency readiness so the site continues to build a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Monitor day-to-day compliance with KORE and applicable legal health and safety standards.
- Carry out routine workplace inspections and identify safety risks or non-conformities.
- Support and participate in risk assessments for plant activities and processes.
- Record, track and follow up on incidents, near misses and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and current safety documentation and related records.
- Assist with health and safety training, communication and awareness initiatives.
- Oversee contractor safety compliance while work is taking place on site.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness planning and readiness activities.
- Help reinforce safe behaviours and support a positive safety culture across the plant.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a plant or manufacturing environment and support on-site safety operations.
- Working knowledge of health and safety compliance, inspection processes and incident follow-up.
- Understanding of risk assessment practices and contractor safety controls.
- Capacity to keep records accurate, organised and current.
- Strong communication skills to support awareness and training activities.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying hazards and improving safety standards.
