Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Health and Safety Consultant to join a major hyperscale data center construction project located in Atlanta, Georgia. This full-time, on-site position entails a 12-month assignment during regular Monday to Friday hours, supporting the construction management team to uphold exemplary safety standards on a highly demanding industrial job site.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily safety inspections and walkthroughs across the construction site to identify potential hazards.
- Assess and review contractors' safety planning documents such as Activity Hazard Analyses and Pre-Task Plans ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Audit compliance with Construction Safety Management Plans (CSMPs) and enforce adherence among contractors.
- Detect high-risk conditions promptly and ensure corrective measures are implemented without delay.
- Exercise the authority to halt work immediately in case of imminent safety threats.
- Participate actively in incident investigations and perform root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Support weekly and monthly preparation of safety reports and metrics to track safety performance.
- Engage in coordination meetings with project leadership and safety teams to align safety objectives.
- Ensure contractor safety documents meet regulatory requirements and promote a zero-incident safety culture across the project.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum three years of experience in construction health and safety with a preference for candidates having five or more years.
- Experience supporting safety on industrial, mission-critical, manufacturing, or large commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and established construction safety practices.
- Proficiency in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 or other Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders including owners and contractors.
Experience in data center or mission-critical construction environments is advantageous but not mandatory.
Assignment Details
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Approximate duration: 12 months.
- Work schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Expected start date: August 2026.
- Competitive salary package with preference for W-2 employment including benefits; 1099 contractor status may be considered for qualified candidates.
