Role overview

This permanent position in Calgary, Canada sits within the Operations team and reports to the VP, HSE. The role focuses on assessing contractor accreditation applications against current program standards and health and safety requirements. You will review supporting evidence, guide contractors through the process, and help move applications efficiently toward accreditation. The position suits someone with solid field experience who can communicate clearly with contractors across varied types of work.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow all SafeContractor procedures and operate in line with the requirements of the role.
  • Review contractor accreditation applications and all supporting documents.
  • Provide practical information and assistance to help contractors progress toward accreditation.
  • Receive, log, and maintain contractor records according to evidence-handling procedures.
  • Gather and prepare information needed for management reporting.
  • Handle other duties appropriate to the role and the individual’s capabilities.
  • Communicate with contractors by phone and email while maintaining professional relationships.
  • Carry out scheduled follow-up calls and maintain contact as needed.
  • Work toward accurate, timely assessments that support quarterly quality targets.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and program requirements.
  • Apply regulations accurately and ensure contractors are accredited without unnecessary delay.
  • Enter information into internal systems with precision.
  • Consistently demonstrate a helpful and respectful approach to employees and contractors.
  • Show integrity in all dealings with employees and contractors.
  • Follow quality assurance processes at all times.
  • Contribute as a cooperative team member.
  • Protect client, contractor, and company confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, such as a degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an occupational health and safety role, preferably with direct field knowledge.
  • Experience assessing safety management systems and compliance standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Dynamics.
