Job description

Role overview

NHS Highland is establishing a new senior leadership position to unify supply chain, logistics, transport, fleet and community equipment services into one coordinated function. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, this influential role has strong executive backing to shape and implement a modern, board-wide service that underpins patient care across a wide and varied region.

The integration programme is already in progress, including support for the development of the Board’s new logistics hub at Ronach House. In this post, you will take forward that momentum by defining the future operating model, developing a strong team and realising the value that a fully joined-up service can deliver.

What the role will involve

You will provide strategic leadership across supply chain, warehousing, transport, fleet and community equipment services, with responsibility for delivery across multiple sites. The role carries accountability for a commercial portfolio of around £6.5 million and leadership of approximately 35 staff.

This is a significant leadership opportunity with scope to shape provision at both Board and national level, while making a direct contribution to frontline care.

Who the role suits

NHS Highland is seeking applicants with substantial leadership experience in supply chain, logistics, operations or similarly complex, multi-site settings. Experience in the NHS is beneficial but not mandatory. The successful candidate will bring proven leadership ability, commercial and financial judgement, and the confidence to work effectively with senior stakeholders.

This post sits at a key moment in the evolution of NHS Highland’s supply chain services and offers the chance to make a long-term, meaningful difference.
