About Burmester
Burmester is an owner-managed German premium audio company based in Berlin and has been creating high-end sound systems since 1977. The business was founded by Dieter Burmester and focuses on home and automotive audio. Role overview
As Head of Research & Development, you will help shape the company’s technological future. In this senior leadership role, you will provide strategic direction, raise the maturity of the R&D organization, define the technology boundaries for the product portfolio, and create the conditions for long-term growth, scalability and market success.
Key responsibilities
- Set and implement the overall technology strategy for the organization.
- Establish and enforce decisions around architecture and platform direction.
- Guide product development and steer the product roadmap.
- Assess and prioritize development initiatives and projects.
- Introduce and manage target systems such as OKRs.
- Refine processes and organizational structures, including PEP and Stage-Gate approaches.
- Lead and develop the core R&D functions on a functional level.
- Work closely with the Lead People R&D to ensure execution capability.
Requirements
- A completed technical degree, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a similar field.
- Extensive experience building and developing complex systems.
- Several years of leadership experience in Research & Development.
- Background in platform strategy and architecture strategy.
- Experience working with agile methods and organizational models.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
