Role overview
Amazon’s International Public Policy group is looking for a senior leader to support its work in Saudi Arabia. This position sits within a fast-moving global team covering Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, and Asia Pacific, and it supports Amazon’s consumer and digital businesses. The role is focused on policy issues that shape the business environment and customer experience, while working with government bodies, industry groups, and non-governmental organizations.
What you will do
In this position, you will lead public policy engagement in Saudi Arabia and help advance Amazon’s customer-focused business model in the country. You will need a strong grasp of the policy landscape, the regulatory environment, and the key stakeholders influencing it.
You will work closely with teams across Amazon, both locally and globally, to shape positioning and engagement plans. The role also involves creating external advocacy plans, outreach initiatives, partnerships, and other programs that support business goals.
You will coordinate Amazon’s participation in industry associations and broader coalitions, while also overseeing consultancy support. The job calls for someone who can solve complex business problems, give clear direction in uncertain situations, and work in a respectful, cooperative way within regional and international structures.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or Economic Development.
- At least 10 years of experience in public policy.
- Full professional fluency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Full professional fluency in Arabic, including speaking, reading, and writing.
Preferred qualifications
- An advanced degree in a public policy-related discipline is an advantage.
- Experience working in a highly matrixed organization and partnering with Legal, PR, and business teams.
- Background in public policy for consumer-focused, technology, or retail businesses.
- Project management experience.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- A self-driven approach with the ability to take broad guidance and turn it into concrete outcomes.
- Ability to coordinate internal and external stakeholders to gather, interpret, and put information and strategy into action.
- Strong judgment and decision-making capability.
- Ability to use experience and data to recommend sound decisions even when the situation is unclear.
