Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Programme Management to spearhead large-scale business transformation initiatives in a complex organisational environment. This strategic leadership position is crucial for overseeing multifaceted change efforts across technology, operations, customer service, and data domains, ensuring programmes are systematically planned, governed, and executed successfully while leading a skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the end-to-end delivery of major transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies and targeted objectives.
  • Manage programme performance monitoring, risk assessment, dependency tracking, and milestone accomplishment.
  • Address and remove obstacles to progress, resolving escalated issues promptly.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team comprising Programme Managers, Project Managers, Change Managers, and supporting staff fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Optimize resource allocation across multiple initiatives and priorities to maximize efficiency.
  • Champion a culture emphasizing continuous improvement and excellence in delivery.
  • Ensure strict compliance within governance and assurance frameworks including chairing governance meetings and managing stage-gate reviews.
  • Evaluate and endorse key programme deliverables such as business cases and delivery plans maintaining high quality and compliance standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, sponsors, and cross-functional leaders for alignment and effective communication.
  • Oversee programme financial management including budgets, cost forecasting, business case evaluation, and tracking benefits realisation.
  • Continuously monitor programme health through governance reporting, risk management, and issue resolution, ensuring accurate documentation and transparency.

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive experience leading complex, enterprise-wide transformation and change programmes within large organisational settings.
  • Proven expertise in managing multiple programme and project workstreams effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities managing multidisciplinary teams in matrix environments.
  • Exceptional skills in coaching, team development, stakeholder engagement, and executive-level influencing.
  • Strong familiarity with governance, assurance frameworks, and the creation and scrutiny of business cases.
  • Proficiency in financial oversight including budget management and resource planning.
  • Robust skills in risk, dependency, and issue management during programme delivery.
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party vendors and delivery partners.
  • Knowledge of delivery methodologies like MSP, PRINCE2, and Agile approaches.
  • Competence in using project management and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Power BI.
