Job Purpose

The company seeks an experienced Head of Procurement & Supply Chain to lead purchasing, supplier relations, inventory management, spares, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) procurement. This position ensures the development of a robust, cost-efficient, and quality-centered supply chain supporting engineering, production, aftermarket service, operations, and maintenance needs. The role covers procurement of engineered components, fabricated and machined parts, OEM items, critical spare parts, tooling, consumables, services, and long-lead materials.

Key Duties

• Formulate and drive a comprehensive procurement and supply chain strategy coherent with company operations, engineering, finance, production, and aftermarket objectives.
• Oversee sourcing and procurement across multiple product and service categories including production components and spares.
• Implement structured procurement for spares and MRO, identifying and managing critical inventory with proper stocking.
• Define and manage stocking policies with safety stock levels and reorder points for spare parts and production materials, focusing on long-lead time items.
• Optimize inventory levels and working capital while preventing stockouts and disruptions in production and maintenance.
• Develop a strong, resilient supplier network to meet low-volume, high-value engineering and manufacturing needs.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers covering pricing, service levels, lead times, warranties, and delivery metrics.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to guarantee compliance with technical and quality specifications.
• Enhance ERP/MRP processes to ensure accurate purchase data, inventory transparency, stock control, and reporting.
• Track and improve supplier performance addressing delivery, cost, quality, and risk areas.
• Support decision-making on make-or-buy, supplier development, cost savings, and value engineering.
• Manage risks related to single-source suppliers, component lead times, obsolete parts, inflation, logistics, and capacity constraints.
• Lead and mentor the procurement, supply chain, storeroom, and inventory teams.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement, inventory, and suppliers, including OTIF, inventory turnover, stock accuracy, purchase price variance, and more.
• Ensure procurement policies comply with finance, quality, operational, and compliance standards and remain auditable.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is required.
• Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain (MCIPS, ASCM/APICS, or equivalents) are advantageous.
• At least eight years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, materials, or inventory management, ideally in engineering, manufacturing, automotive, defence, heavy vehicle, aerospace, or similar technical sectors.
• Extensive experience managing procurement of engineered components, production materials, spare parts, MRO, tooling, consumables, or technical services.
• Proven leadership experience overseeing buyers, planners, stores, or similar teams.
• Strong negotiation skills and record of supplier relationship and contract management improvements.
• Good understanding of ERP/MRP systems and data-driven inventory and purchasing controls.
• Familiarity with fabricated, machined, OEM components, long-lead items, and maintenance-related procurement is highly beneficial.
• Ability to comprehend technical drawings and specifications is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with departments such as Finance, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Production, and senior management.
• A strong sense of discipline, urgency, and accountability in resolving supplier and inventory challenges.
