Job description
About Stord
Stord is a commerce experience platform that helps brands create a smooth journey from checkout to delivery. The company combines software with fulfillment and carrier capabilities to give brands the tools to compete with much larger retail players.
Operating at significant scale, Stord supports more than $10 billion in annual commerce across fulfillment, warehousing, transportation, and its own software products, including OMS, pre-purchase and post-purchase solutions, and WMS platforms. Its goal is to help brands improve conversion, economics, and customer loyalty through faster shipping, dependable delivery promises, and stronger omnichannel reach.
The company works with well-known DTC and B2B brands and is headquartered in Atlanta, with facilities across the United States, Canada, and Europe. It is a Series F, pre-IPO business backed by major investors.
Role Overview
Stord is expanding its procurement organization and is hiring an experienced Head of Procurement to establish and lead the function. The role sits at the center of vendor strategy, spend control, and cash flow improvement, with direct influence on the company’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities
- Own procurement strategy across all major spend areas, including technology, facilities, transportation, professional services, and operations.
- Lead contract discussions to secure better pricing, payment terms, and service-level commitments that support growth and liquidity.
- Create a preferred supplier program and reduce vendor overlap where it makes sense.
- Work with Finance and Operations to find and deliver savings across both direct and indirect spend.
- Use payment terms as a working-capital lever while preserving strong supplier relationships.
- Contribute procurement insights to cash flow planning and executive reporting.
- Design and roll out procurement processes from the ground up, covering sourcing, contracts, purchase orders, and approval flows.
- Assess and implement procurement tools that improve spend control and transparency.
- Set and monitor procurement KPIs such as savings achieved, payment-term improvements, and vendor compliance.
- Collaborate with Legal on contract risk and compliance matters.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Finance to forecast needs and stay ahead of demand.
- Provide senior leaders with clear, data-driven updates on procurement priorities and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- 15 or more years of progressive procurement experience, including at least 5 years at director or senior director level.
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract management across multiple categories.
- Experience in a high-growth business or a large, complex organization where procurement materially affected performance.
- History of building a procurement team or substantially improving an existing function.
- Solid financial understanding, especially around cash flow, gross margin, and working capital.
- International procurement exposure is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation ability with a collaborative approach to supplier management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present strategy and results to executive audiences.
Why This Role Matters
At Stord’s scale, procurement has a direct effect on liquidity, visibility into spend, and the company’s ability to invest in growth. This position will help turn procurement from a starting-point function into a core operational capability with meaningful influence on how the business runs.
