Job description
About the company
Xentral is on a mission to make business operations noticeably easier through a single, smart software platform. As an established ERP provider in the DACH region, the company supports modern B2B and e-commerce businesses in running their processes efficiently, smoothly, and with a long-term outlook. The organization is built around a committed team working fully remotely across Germany, with a culture centered on innovation and real collaboration.
To support continued growth and strengthen the company culture, Xentral is looking for an empathetic and strategic leader to take ownership of the people function. In this key position, you will carry overall responsibility for HR structures and help guide the teams through the next phase of the company’s journey, including internal and external challenges.
Role summary
As Head of People & Organisation, you will lead the full people agenda, serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, and shape the systems, culture, and processes that enable the business to scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead and further develop a seven-person People team, including four direct and three indirect reports, while creating an environment where each person can thrive and move fluidly between Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partnering, Learning & Development, and administrative topics.
- Report directly to the CEO and act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the senior leadership team on both forward-looking and day-to-day people matters.
- Play a major role in shaping the company culture by building initiatives that strengthen cohesion, psychological safety, and engagement, especially in a remote working environment.
- Oversee and improve the core areas of the People team, including Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partnering, Learning & Development, and HR Operations.
- Own the strategic people budget and ensure headcount and personnel cost control across the business in close coordination with Finance.
- Design modern, scalable HR processes that align with the company’s agile ways of working and support business growth.
Requirements
- You bring at least 8 years of solid professional experience in HR, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment, and at least 3 years of demonstrated team leadership experience.
- You combine empathetic leadership with experience in organizational design and change management to adapt structures in step with growth.
- You have strong hands-on experience in talent acquisition and business partnering.
- You are highly analytical and use HR KPIs and people analytics to make well-founded, data-driven decisions.
- You are fully confident in German employment law and familiar with the legal realities of remote working setups.
- You feel at home in an agile software/AI environment and communicate fluently and confidently in both German and English, spoken and written.
What we offer
- Flexible remote work across Europe or from office hubs in Augsburg, Berlin, Munich, and Lohne (Oldenburg), plus flexible working hours.
- Attractive compensation and strong benefits, including 28 days of annual leave, special leave days, nursing care days, a monthly voucher that can be used with selected providers such as Urban Sports Club, grocery stores, entertainment, and lifestyle brands, state-of-the-art home office equipment, and a 30% subsidy for private pension plans for permanent employees in Germany.
- A significant budget for learning and personal development to support continuous growth.
- Access to virtual and in-person company events, including yearly Culture Connect Days, in a low-hierarchy environment with respectful communication.
- A diverse and international team spread across 17 work locations in Europe and representing 32 nationalities.
- Comprehensive mental health support, including 24/7 counseling, therapy placement, on-site support, and legal and financial guidance.
Eligibility
This role is open to candidates who can work remotely from Europe. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are not provided, and moving within Europe is not required to join the team.
Additional information
Xentral is a tech startup backed by major investors including Sequoia Capital and Visionaries Club. The company is working to define a new SaaS category and help entrepreneurs and e-commerce sellers automate resource planning so they can focus on what matters most: their business.
The workplace is built on inclusion, respect, and empowerment. Background, beliefs, and identity are not barriers to joining; what matters is the person you are and the skills you contribute.
The company operates remote-first across Europe, and applicants can work from wherever they are most comfortable. To support hiring efficiency, AI tools may be used in parts of the recruitment process such as application review, resume analysis, or response assessment; however, human judgment remains central, and final hiring decisions are always made by people.
