Job description
About Lumos
Lumos is building an Autonomous Identity Platform that helps organizations understand and act on access risk. The product began as a self-serve AppStore and has grown into core infrastructure for connecting applications, identities, and data. Teams at GitHub, MongoDB, Mars, Pinterest, Anduril, Intercom, Roku, and Netskope use it to manage identity and access more effectively. At the center of the platform is Albus, an AI agent that reviews roles, approves access, and identifies drift that people may overlook.
This role is an opportunity to create and scale the People function as the company grows from roughly 130 employees to more than 300. The Head of People will be a key advisor to leadership on talent, performance, team building, and organizational design, while helping shape Lumos into a place where strong operators want to do the best work of their careers.
Why Lumos
- Since emerging from stealth in April 2022, the company has expanded from 20 people to about 130 and raised more than $65M from investors including a16z, Scale, Neo, Greg Brockman, and Phil Venables.
- Lumos has been recognized as a Strong Performer in the 2026 Gartner Voice of the Customer for IGA, with a 4.7/5 rating and 96% of reviewers saying they would recommend it. Customers have reduced time-to-access by 98%, lowered IT tickets by 72%, and removed excess privilege at scale.
- The company has also appeared on Forbes' Top 100 Best Startup Employers in America for 2024, 2025, and 2026, reflecting its culture, retention, growth, and hiring impact.
What You Will Do
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to the executive team on organizational structure, leadership development, succession planning, and high-stakes people decisions.
- Create and roll out people systems that scale, including career frameworks, performance processes, compensation practices, and onboarding, with clear cadence and documentation.
- Build, hire, and develop the People team as the company moves through Series C growth.
- Design and run manager development programs that help every manager grow into an effective people leader from the moment they begin hiring.
- Protect and strengthen the company culture while putting the operating structure in place for the next stage of growth.
What We're Looking For
- At least 8 years of experience in People or HR, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position managing a function or major program.
- Direct experience scaling a People function through the 100 to 250+ employee stage at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
- A track record of creating manager development, performance, compensation, and onboarding programs from the ground up, with concrete examples of the work produced.
- A strong belief that great people organizations are built through strong managers, backed by real execution experience.
- Comfort advising CEOs, founders, and senior leaders on sensitive matters with sound judgment, discretion, and a broad strategic view.
- Ability to operate with discipline and consistency through repeatable processes rather than one-off problem solving.
- Helpful but not required: experience with HiBob or a similar modern HRIS, a coaching credential or coaching background, and international/EOR tools such as Deel or Remote.
Compensation
The expected annual pay range for this role is $215,000 to $280,000. This is a good-faith estimate and the actual offer may vary based on experience and skill level.
Benefits and Perks
- Remote-first setup with flexibility to work from anywhere within four hours of Pacific Time.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage with 100% of employee premiums paid and 60% of dependent premiums covered; HSA and FSA options include an employer contribution.
- Mental health resources and support.
- A monthly wellness stipend for fitness, gym memberships, apps, or similar needs.
- Life insurance along with short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- Flexible PTO with a minimum annual requirement.
- Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
- $1,000 per year for learning and development expenses such as courses, books, conferences, and certifications.
- Fully covered company and team offsites held throughout the year.
- 401(k) with employer matching.
Additional Information
The role values alignment with the company’s operating principles and culture, in addition to professional experience. The company appreciates applications from candidates who are excited to help shape the next phase of growth.
