Job description
Role overview
This position is based in Madrid, Spain, with a hybrid arrangement or work-from-anywhere flexibility, provided there is regional travel. The role is for an experienced commercial leader who can establish and grow the company’s presence across Europe.
Company snapshot
The hiring organization is a global industrial manufacturer known for advanced polymer-based building materials and infrastructure piping systems. Its product range supports residential, commercial, and large infrastructure uses such as water supply, heating, drainage, and industrial fluid transport. With several manufacturing sites across Asia and an internationally recognized brand, the business is now focused on building a localized commercial footprint in Europe through distributor partnerships, B2B alliances, and a regional sales team.
What the role involves
The Head of Overseas Sales for Europe will lead market entry and growth efforts in major European countries, including Spain, France, Germany, and Italy. The main objective is to create a scalable sales engine, strengthen distribution coverage, and secure strategic partners that can support long-term expansion.
This person will serve as the commercial lead for the region, partnering with headquarters on market planning, channel growth, and the creation of a strong regional sales structure. The position suits professionals with deep knowledge of building materials, piping systems, polymer products, or industrial construction supply chains.
Core responsibilities
- Design and implement go-to-market plans for European expansion, with responsibility for regional sales and revenue performance.
- Source, appoint, and oversee distributors, agents, wholesalers, and other strategic B2B partners in the construction and building materials ecosystem.
- Set up and refine the regional sales framework, including pricing logic, channel segmentation, and distributor performance controls.
- Handle major commercial negotiations with construction groups, procurement teams, and large regional partners.
- Track market movements, competitor actions, regulatory shifts, and changes in building standards to guide strategy.
- Build the European sales function from the ground up, including hiring and onboarding local commercial talent.
- Work closely with headquarters to align manufacturing output, supply chain readiness, and commercial execution.
- Represent the business at trade shows, exhibitions, and senior-level meetings across Europe.
- Develop durable partnerships with important industry stakeholders to deepen market reach and strengthen brand visibility.
- Share regular reports on performance, market insights, and strategic recommendations with senior leadership.
Candidate profile
Applicants should bring a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Engineering, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field, along with at least five years of experience in sales leadership, business development, or market expansion within piping systems, polymer manufacturing, building materials, or a related industrial sector.
Strong experience in B2B channel development, distributor management, and international growth is important, as is familiarity with construction supply chains, industrial distributors, or infrastructure material providers. A solid understanding of European building materials markets, including pricing, distribution, and procurement practices, is expected.
A pre-existing network of distributors, agents, or procurement professionals in the European construction and building materials space is strongly preferred. Experience with international trade operations, such as contracts, logistics coordination, and cross-border commerce, will be valuable.
The ideal candidate will bring strong negotiation ability, relationship-building skills, commercial planning capability, and an entrepreneurial approach to creating new markets. Comfort working across cultures and collaborating with Asian headquarters teams is also essential. English fluency is required; French is highly preferred, while Spanish or Mandarin would be an added advantage.
