Job description
Role overview
Qantas, founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, has become Australia’s largest airline across regional, domestic and international flying. The wider Qantas Group also includes subsidiary businesses that support group operations, with the core business focused on carrying passengers and freight through the Qantas and Jetstar brands.
This is a full-time permanent leadership position based at the Mascot head office in Sydney. The role is responsible for directing the planning, development and optimisation of the Qantas network across Domestic, International and Regional operations, including Network Aviation. It connects commercial strategy with an executable schedule, while balancing customer demand, profitability, operational performance and competitiveness.
What you will do
- Shape and improve the domestic, international and regional network strategy.
- Turn commercial priorities into practical schedules that can be delivered operationally.
- Lead planning for network coverage, schedule changes, charter activity and slot coordination.
- Identify and pursue new route opportunities that can strengthen the network.
- Oversee Qantas’ Australian and international slot portfolio.
- Influence fleet deployment choices using commercial and operational analysis.
- Improve network outcomes through better processes, technology and data-driven insights.
- Work closely with senior operational, commercial and executive stakeholders to support major decisions.
What you will bring
You should be a commercially strong and strategically minded leader who can work through complexity, guide analytical teams and convert evidence into action. The role calls for someone who can influence at senior levels and perform confidently in a highly regulated, fast-changing environment.
- 10+ years of experience in network planning, scheduling, commercial strategy or operational planning, preferably in aviation or another complex transport setting.
- Proven ability to assess route performance, network opportunities, capacity decisions and business cases.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across operational, commercial and executive groups.
- Experience leading high-performing analytical teams and improving performance through data, technology and process changes.
- Clear strategic thinking, sound judgement and effective communication skills.
