Overview

Join Islamic Relief Canada as a permanent Head of National Community Fundraising and become a vital part of our mission to mobilize Canadians in transforming lives globally with trust and impact.

Department Function

The Fund Development division at Islamic Relief Canada is dedicated to increasing funding and support through various initiatives, focusing on donor, volunteer, and community engagement.

Role Purpose

This key leadership role reports directly to the Director of Fundraising and collaborates with senior management on strategic decisions. The position leads fundraising efforts, develops external partnerships, and diversifies donor channels to enhance IRC’s visibility, program funding, and resource base nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual and long-term fundraising planning in close partnership with the Director to meet revenue goals.
  • Develop cost-effective budgets and manage departmental financial restraints.
  • Design and execute comprehensive fundraising and community engagement strategies across Canada.
  • Support and collaborate on major fundraising campaigns and community initiatives.
  • Identify innovative funding opportunities including events, partnerships, and grants.
  • Manage and mentor the fund development team, including regional managers, overseeing objectives, workload, and performance reviews.
  • Continuously research and implement best practices to optimize fundraising methods.
  • Create stewardship programs to strengthen ties with community stakeholders and donors.
  • Provide regular progress reports on KPIs to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least five years of senior management experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven success in expanding and managing relationships with diverse community stakeholders such as mosques, cultural and professional organizations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities supporting strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
  • Track record of meeting and surpassing revenue targets and leveraging organizational brand for development.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently both within Canada and internationally.

Work Environment and Additional Information

IRC employs a hybrid working model with office attendance dependent on proximity to headquarters in Burlington or regional offices (Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa), ranging from two days weekly to once monthly.

Compensation

The starting annual salary is $102,000, with adjustments determined by qualifications and relevant factors.
