About the Role
This crucial leadership position is part of the specialized M&A vertical within the Group Corporate Finance team, concentrating on the Energy portfolio alongside other sectors. The individual will spearhead acquisition strategies, manage due diligence, and oversee transaction execution while collaborating closely with various internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Originate and identify M&A, investments, divestitures, and strategic partnership opportunities that align with the Group’s broader strategy.
- Forge and maintain connections with promoters, investment banks, advisors, lenders, private equity firms, and strategic stakeholders.
- Gather and analyze sector-specific insights to maintain a robust pipeline of viable opportunities within Energy & Utilities.
- Lead financial and commercial evaluations including valuation, modeling, synergy assessment, and preparation of comprehensive investment cases.
- Conduct in-depth business and market reviews covering competitive positioning, regulations, and performance.
- Prepare detailed presentation materials for investment committees and leadership bodies.
- Manage due diligence processes by coordinating with business units, legal teams, tax advisors, compliance departments, and external consultants.
- Steer structuring, negotiations, bid strategy, and financing considerations for transactions.
- Lead the creation, negotiation, and execution of all key transaction documents including NDAs, term sheets, sale and purchase agreements, shareholders’ agreements, and other contractual documentation.
- Ensure all transaction workstreams are aligned to meet timelines and successful closure objectives.
- Act as the principal corporate finance lead for Energy & Utilities acquisitions within the group, partnering with executives such as CEOs and CFOs, and internal support functions including Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, ESG, and Risk roles.
- Manage relationships with external advisors across banking, consulting, accounting, legal, and technical expertise.
- Oversee post-merger integration efforts, emphasizing synergy achievement, governance frameworks, and value creation tracking.
- Support strategic reviews, capital allocation, restructuring initiatives, joint ventures, carve-outs, and special situations within the Energy & Utilities domain.
- Identify and evaluate inorganic growth opportunities in emerging sectors related to Energy & Utilities.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance from a renowned institution; engineering background is advantageous.
- Over 15 years of extensive experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or strategic finance emphasizing independent leadership of both domestic and cross-border large transactions.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation capabilities.
- Experience in structuring M&A deals and managing due diligence.
- Expertise in negotiation and transaction document management.
- Strong analytical skills in strategic assessment.
- In-depth knowledge of power, renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, and industrial sectors.
