Role Overview
The Head of MEPF assumes full responsibility for supervising the operation, upkeep, and troubleshooting of the airport’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. This leadership position ensures adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards, aligns maintenance activities with project requirements and budgets, and drives the team strategically to optimize system performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and enforce preventative maintenance schedules that minimize disruption to airport functions.
- Collaborate across departments to prioritize urgent maintenance and plan upgrades or shutdowns that reduce downtime.
- Engage hands-on in diagnosing and resolving complex MEPF system issues, utilizing diagnostic tools to develop lasting solutions.
- Oversee budgeting and cost control for MEPF maintenance, identifying efficiencies and negotiating with vendors to lower expenses.
- Implement, communicate, and uphold rigorous safety protocols ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations; conduct ongoing safety training and inspections.
- Establish quality control programs through regular site inspections and prompt correction of deviations to maintain system integrity.
- Manage external vendor and contractor relationships to ensure adherence to contractual terms regarding quality, cost, and schedules.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drive energy conservation initiatives by auditing systems, implementing advanced controls and automation, and pursuing sustainability goals.
- Manage purchasing and inventory for critical parts and tools, balancing availability with cost efficiency through close coordination with procurement.
- Maintain close coordination with stakeholders including project managers, contractors, architects, regulatory bodies, and client representatives to align MEPF activities with overall project goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- More than 10 years of practical experience maintaining MEPF systems, including troubleshooting and repairs, preferably within airport or large-scale commercial or industrial environments.
