Job description
About GOLF+
GOLF+ is developing a leading off-course golf platform that began as a top VR golf experience and is now growing into a connected offering across VR, mixed reality, and simulator golf for golfers around the world. The product has passed 2 million downloads and has seen nearly 5 billion shots played. It is the official VR partner of the PGA TOUR and has attracted backing from golf and sports figures including Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Brady, Steph Curry, and Mike Trout.
The company is entering a major growth phase in 2026, with planned launches for GOLF+ Putting and GOLF+ Sim while continuing to invest in its long-term VR direction. This position is key to making those launches effective and to helping GOLF+ stand out as a trusted, differentiated name in the wider off-course golf space.
Role overview
GOLF+ is looking for a Head of Marketing to lead how golfers discover, trust, and connect with the brand. Reporting to the CEO and managing the Product Marketing Manager initially, you will set the marketing vision, define how the brand appears across golfer touchpoints, and build the structure, capabilities, and working cadence needed to scale across VR, mixed reality, and simulator golf.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a well-rounded marketer who is equally comfortable with audience strategy, storytelling, brand building, funnels, and performance analysis. It is designed as a player-coach position: you will contribute directly to the work today while intentionally building the team over time. The role is not intended to be a strategy-only or performance-marketing-only seat.
Core responsibilities
You will be responsible for the full marketing function and for prioritizing the work as one connected mandate rather than separate isolated tasks.
- Shape GOLF+’s brand, category presence, voice, positioning, and narrative so the company builds belief with golfers who do not yet see a need for it.
- Lead and grow the marketing team, beginning with the Product Marketing Manager, and expand the function thoughtfully over the next 12 to 18 months.
- Own product marketing and launch execution, including positioning, messaging, and go-to-market planning for major releases.
- Build marketing that answers why GOLF+, why now, why VR, and why simulator golf, while creating a strong first impression for the brand in the simulator golf market.
- Direct partnerships, creators, ambassadors, community, and institutional relationships, including efforts involving the PGA TOUR, PGA of America, Meta, and golfer-to-golfer advocacy.
- Treat ambassadors as real relationships that strengthen legitimacy and growth rather than as simple paid media placements.
- Coordinate growth across channels and stay accountable for results through targets, channel mix, CAC, LTV, and leadership reporting.
- Maintain clear visibility into performance by tracking key metrics, explaining outcomes, sharing learnings, and outlining next steps for leadership.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring broad marketing leadership, a strong connection to golf, and a practical, execution-focused style.
- Strong personal passion for golf and a real understanding of the golf customer; this is essential.
- Experience as a broad-based marketer who has worked across brand, go-to-market, partnerships, and growth.
- Ability to build trust and demand through content-led marketing, storytelling, creators, community, and authentic relationships.
- Strong ownership mentality with the drive to lead and carry projects from concept through execution.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to run meetings, align stakeholders, and clearly share plans and priorities.
- Comfort operating as a player-coach in a lean environment while building the team deliberately over time.
- Analytical fluency with the ability to work with dashboards, targets, CAC, and LTV without becoming overly funnel-focused.
- Comfort using AI tools to improve research, content creation, and workflow efficiency.
- Must be based in Austin, TX and work onsite with the team.
Nice to have
- Existing relationships within golf, golf media, or the golf creator ecosystem.
- Understanding of the golf industry landscape, including OEMs, teaching professionals, club fitting, and launch monitors.
- Experience introducing a product to a skeptical audience or one that is new to the category.
- Background in gaming, VR, consumer technology, sports, or creator-led platforms.
- Brand-building experience at an early-stage or fast-growing company.
What this role is not
- It is not a narrow paid media or performance-marketing position.
- It is not a purely strategic, oversight-only leadership role.
- It is not suited for someone who needs a mature playbook, a large team, or a large budget already in place.
- It is not a slow, process-heavy environment.
Compensation and benefits
Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on factors such as skills, relevant experience, and work location. The package includes market cash compensation plus equity.
Full-time employees are eligible for a benefits package that includes healthcare coverage, a 401(k) with employer match, short-term and long-term disability insurance, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, multiple paid holidays, and a golf stipend.
Equal opportunity and hiring process notice
