Role overview

An expanding recruitment business in New York is looking for a Head of Learning & Development to own the learning strategy for its sales organisation. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who wants to shape how consultants, managers, and future leaders learn, develop, and perform in a fast-moving international environment.

This position goes well beyond delivering training. The successful candidate will create the structure, frameworks, and leadership pathways that support sales excellence across the New York office. Working with senior leaders and the People team, you will help build a scalable development function that improves capability and drives commercial results.

What you will do

  • Own and roll out the learning and development plan for the New York sales team.
  • Create repeatable sales training systems, playbooks, and best-practice processes.
  • Deliver engaging programmes for graduates, individual contributors, managers, and senior leaders.
  • Support the growth of emerging managers, team leads, and future leadership talent through coaching.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to improve adoption, engagement, and behavioural change.
  • Strengthen onboarding and orientation for new joiners.
  • Track the impact of learning initiatives and update programmes to improve business outcomes.
  • Help build a workplace culture where continuous learning is part of everyday performance.

Candidate profile

Essential experience

  • A track record of creating learning frameworks, sales processes, or enablement programmes from scratch.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to win support from senior leaders.
  • Experience coaching sales people and managers in a busy commercial setting.
  • Confidence leading workshops, academy-style programmes, and training sessions.
  • The ability to stay effective in a changing, scaling business where priorities can shift quickly.
