About the Role
TRL11, Inc. is a venture-funded startup focused on advanced video technology for space and aerospace/defense use cases. The business operates in environments where strong security, dependable systems, and careful engineering are essential. This role offers the chance to join early in the company’s growth and help set up the IT, security, and compliance foundations that will support both daily operations and future readiness.
As the Head of IT and Cybersecurity, you will lead a wide-ranging function that spans internal IT, security, and business systems. It is a strong fit for a practical leader who likes building capabilities from the ground up, collaborating across technical and operational teams, and establishing processes that can grow with the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and develop the company’s IT and cybersecurity capabilities.
- Take ownership of the system security plan.
- Lead preparation for CMMC Level 2 certification and work with a C3PAO toward certification.
- Design, connect, and improve internal business systems.
- Provide essential IT helpdesk support while the team is still growing.
- Support the expansion of the IT and cybersecurity teams during the company’s early stage.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in information management systems, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
- Background in organizations that develop their own hardware and software products, plus experience helping IT and cybersecurity functions scale in a small-company setting.
- Experience as a major contributor or leader in an IT or cybersecurity team, including designing, implementing, certifying, and managing systems in a compliance-driven environment.
- Practical exposure to enterprise IT infrastructure, security tools, cloud platforms, identity and access management, cloud security, and DevOps methods.
- Strong understanding of CMMC, NIST 800-171, and FedRAMP, along with experience using Agile approaches and NIST SP 800-218.
- Ability to work well with senior leaders, auditors, assessors, customers, software engineering teams, and operations partners.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Familiarity with ISO 12207 is considered an advantage.
- CISSP, CISM, or Security+ certification is preferred.
