Job description
Role overview
This senior leadership position owns the client organization’s information security function end to end. The person in this role will shape the security direction, safeguard information assets, and manage risks and threats that could affect the business. The role also focuses on building a secure, resilient operating environment, strengthening security awareness across the organization, and keeping all security activities aligned with governance and regulatory obligations.
As an executive advisor, the Head of Information Security will work closely with senior leadership to guide security decisions, support business priorities, and help ensure the organization’s goals are protected through effective cyber risk management.
Responsibilities
- Set the overall information security strategy and ensure it supports business objectives.
- Lead the protection of the organization’s information assets and reduce exposure to cyber risks.
- Oversee risk identification, threat management, and security governance across the organization.
- Build and maintain a resilient security environment that supports business continuity.
- Advise executive management on security matters and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and governance requirements.
- Promote a security-first mindset and strengthen awareness across teams.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex incidents and high-pressure situations.
- Engage with boards, executives, and key stakeholders to influence security outcomes.
- Guide security architecture, resilience, third-party governance, and crisis response efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field is considered an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in information security, cyber risk management, or a similar leadership capacity.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience leading an information security or cybersecurity function, or advising at an executive level.
- Proven background in creating security strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Hands-on experience managing security risks and threats across the full lifecycle.
- Strong familiarity with Qatar regulatory frameworks including NCSA, NIA, CIIP, and PDPPL.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership, boards, and senior stakeholders.
- Experience handling complex, time-sensitive security incidents and leading teams through crisis situations.
- Strong understanding of security, risk, governance, and compliance practices.
