Job description

About Moniepoint Group

Moniepoint serves as Africa's comprehensive financial ecosystem, enabling businesses and their customers to utilize integrated payment, banking, credit, and management solutions. In 2023, the group facilitated transactions totaling $182 billion and is recognized as the leading merchant acquirer in Nigeria.

Role Purpose

This position is responsible for developing, owning, and managing the Group-wide FP&A framework, methodology, and reporting standards. It offers Group leadership a unified, dependable overview of financial performance and future outlook across subsidiaries and business units including Moniepoint Nigeria, Moniepoint Kenya, MonieWorld, and Moniepoint Technologies. Unlike local FP&A teams focused on individual units, this role consolidates outputs, sets group-wide policies, and directly supports entities without dedicated FP&A staff. The goal is to maintain a single, consistent framework executed locally when teams exist, avoiding duplicated efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and govern the Group's FP&A framework encompassing budgeting, forecasting process, and management reporting standards for all entities, including those with internal FP&A teams.
  • Integrate entity and business unit-level forecasts into a consolidated Group profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow report with currency toggling and intercompany adjustments.
  • Manage the annual Group budget cycle including templates, deadlines, review sessions, and Board approval while respecting local budget creation ownership.
  • Deliver consolidated Group forecasts extending to 2026-2028 and beyond, reconciled monthly against actual results with clear variance explanations.
  • Collaborate with the Group Financial Controller to ensure clean reconciliation of actuals, forecasts, and consolidation monthly, supporting timely reporting cycles.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly Group reporting cycles, preparing consolidated management accounts, Board presentations, and investor-level reports.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent Group-wide KPI and unit economics framework, ensuring uniform application across all finance teams and directly covering units lacking dedicated resources.
  • Engage with business unit CFOs and finance leads to set standards and consolidate financial data, enabling local teams to focus on their operational execution.
  • Drive scenario and sensitivity analyses for Group strategic initiatives such as market entry, capital funding rounds, licensing, and expansions.
  • Establish and uphold FP&A modeling and style standards regarding structure, formatting, approval processes, and version control.
  • Lead and mentor the Group FP&A Analysts supporting subsidiaries and shared services without dedicated FP&A personnel.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years' experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or investment banking with a demonstrated record of building forecasting frameworks from the ground up.
  • Expertise consolidating complex multi-entity, multi-currency forecasts and financial statements.
  • Professional background in banking, fintech, or regulated high-growth industries.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to architect models spanning multiple business entities and currencies; relevant certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CFA are advantageous.
  • Proven capacity to lead senior finance functions remotely across different time zones and geographies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within rapidly expanding fintech or banking sectors in Africa or emerging markets.
  • Direct involvement in Board and investor-level Group financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and consolidation software systems such as NetSuite, Aleph, or Pigment beyond Excel expertise.
  • Experience setting up FP&A functions or frameworks during significant growth or scale-up phases, including delineating Group functions from localized teams.

Desired Traits

  • System thinker who emphasizes designing robust frameworks over quick fixes.
  • Comfortable synthesizing and clearly communicating multi-entity, multi-currency financial data to executive stakeholders.
  • Focuses on enabling local FP&A teams within a cohesive Group framework rather than taking over their work.
  • Diligent about financial data integrity, ensuring numbers reconcile before approval.
  • Skilled people manager who delivers consistent, high-quality outputs from their team.
  • Effective written communicator with clear, structured, and concise messaging.
  • Self-motivated and organized in managing group-wide processes remotely without direct supervision.

Success Metrics

  • Consistent monthly reconciliation of Group forecasts against actuals with variance explanations within acceptable thresholds.
  • On-time delivery of management, Board, and investor reporting with minimal revisions.
  • A well-executed budget cycle with business unit agreement and no significant off-cycle adjustments.
  • Widespread adoption of Group financial models and standards by business unit finance teams, avoiding parallel processes.
  • Recognition of FP&A deliverables as the sole source of truth by CFO and Group CEO for decision-making purposes.

Recruitment Process

  • Initial screening call with recruitment personnel.
  • Interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • Panel discussion with current Finance Leads.
  • Behavioral and technical interview with an Executive team member.
