Job description
About Milk Makeup
Milk Makeup is a clean beauty brand rooted in creativity, self-expression, and community. Originating from Milk, a creative space in downtown New York City, the brand centers innovation, individuality, and a modern approach to beauty—focused not just on how makeup is worn, but on what you do while wearing it.
Who You Are
- You think in terms of community and long-term impact, and you care about building a beauty space where people feel represented and inspired.
- You bring a grounded, hardworking New York mindset: adaptable, practical, and committed to getting results with humility.
- You enjoy solving problems, are comfortable with thoughtful risk-taking, and like challenging the usual way things are done.
- You value creativity and self-expression, and you thrive in environments that celebrate individuality.
- You lead with inclusion, open-mindedness, and active listening, and you help create a safe and respectful workplace.
Role Overview
The Head of Global Merchandising will be a strategic, commercially focused, and highly analytical leader responsible for shaping Milk Makeup’s global retail presence. This role connects brand storytelling, product development, and real-world retail execution across major beauty retailers such as Sephora, Ulta, Boots, and Space NK. You will own how products are organized across shelves and stores worldwide, with a focus on improving space productivity, SKU efficiency, shopper flow, and overall brand consistency.
What You’ll Do
- Design the global assortment structure by retailer and market, including SKU expansion and rationalization plans that improve retail performance.
- Work with regional general managers to review sales trends, SKU performance, velocity, and linear-foot productivity to strengthen merchandising decisions.
- Build the shelf and gondola logic, including navigation, product placement, cross-sell opportunities, and educational messaging that can be understood quickly by shoppers.
- Serve as the link between product development, supply chain and demand planning, and visual merchandising to ensure assortments move smoothly from planning into stores.
- Regularly assess the competitive beauty landscape to identify stronger approaches to space use, navigation, and retail innovation.
Requirements
- 10–15+ years of experience in beauty merchandising, buying, or global retail strategy.
- Prestige beauty experience in Sephora or Ulta environments is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strength in analytics, including multi-market assortment management, P&L considerations, and demand planning limitations.
- Strong ability to interpret data and translate it into effective physical shelf and store presentation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence regional leaders and retail partners.
Work Location
This is an onsite role based in New York, NY.
