Job description
About the Company
Sela is a Public Investment Fund-backed organization based in Saudi Arabia, known for delivering large-scale entertainment, culture, sports, and experiential projects aligned with Vision 2030. The company focuses on building extraordinary public experiences and turning ambitious ideas into complex, city-level operational realities.
Role Overview
This senior leadership role calls for a high-caliber professional who can bridge creative ambition with technical execution. The position sits at the start of major global portfolio projects and carries responsibility for converting imaginative concepts into practical, safe, and visually exceptional technical outcomes. The ideal candidate will have direct experience delivering very large spectacles such as Olympic ceremonies, World Cup productions, or major drone- and kinetic-driven shows.
Core Scope of Work
The role acts as the main authority for creative technology and technical operations, setting standards, overseeing elite vendors, and leading production environments where precision and reliability are critical.
Creative Technical Architecture and Engineering Governance
- Serve as the key link between creative leadership and structural or heavy-civil engineering teams so artistic ideas can be made buildable and delivered accurately.
- Define and enforce global standards for engineering, lighting, audio, visual systems, and kinetic elements across major events.
- Lead technical oversight for large-scale staging, expansive projection mapping, automated kinetic structures, pyrotechnics, and complex drone-based installations.
Global Vendor and Procurement Leadership
- Identify, evaluate, and manage top-tier international production partners, fabrication specialists, and creative technology suppliers.
- Implement strict quality assurance and quality control checks on fabricated components, advanced AV equipment, and machinery before site delivery.
- Review and control detailed technical specifications, rider obligations, and service-level agreements with global suppliers.
Integration, Rehearsal, and Safety Readiness
- Coordinate closely with creative teams, temporary overlay infrastructure, site logistics, power teams, and health and safety functions.
- Design and direct technical rehearsal plans, stress-testing, and failure-simulation exercises to verify resilience and redundancy.
- Ensure creative installations comply with international requirements for structural integrity, wind loading, and electrical safety at major public events.
Live Show Technical Governance
- Act as the senior technical lead during live show execution and broadcast periods, guiding crews and resolving issues in real time.
- Work directly with the Main Operations Centre to support live programming decisions and urgent technical or creative adjustments.
Candidate Profile
- You should bring 12 to 15+ years of experience leading technical production or creative delivery for major global-scale spectacles.
- Direct experience on at least one Olympic ceremony, FIFA World Cup ceremony, World Expo, or a comparable multi-million-dollar government program is required.
- Strong expertise is needed in automated staging, advanced media servers, high-lumen projection mapping, rigging, synchronized drone systems, and pyrotechnic or laser control.
- You must have a strong aesthetic sensibility and the ability to protect creative intent while respecting safety and structural limits.
- The role also requires diplomacy, executive presence, and the confidence to work with artists, corporate stakeholders, engineers, and senior government representatives.
- Experience working in the Middle East and GCC region, along with a strong alignment to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 pace and ambitions, is highly advantageous.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Technical Production, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Creative Technology, or a closely related discipline is expected.
- Advanced certifications in rigging, high-voltage systems, or show-control software are also anticipated.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating delivery of internationally recognized, televised mega-events is required.
