Role Overview
In the role of Head of Financial Crimes, you will lead Flex’s financial crime risk management efforts. Reporting to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, you will oversee the day-to-day administration of Flex’s global BSA/AML program and handle the responsibilities of the BSA Officer for diverse global products.
This senior position requires experience managing a financial crime compliance program on a global scale with familiarity in digital currencies and stablecoins. You will collaborate closely with the CCO to enhance and future-proof AML programs aligned with Flex’s global expansion, embodying a hands-on approach to scaling operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the comprehensive Global BSA/AML program, covering policy, risk evaluations, governance, and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, risk, engineering, and operations to build and refine policies and controls for AML/BSA, sanctions, KYC, transaction monitoring, and fraud prevention.
- Develop and operate Flex’s crypto and stablecoin financial crime framework, addressing unique on/off ramp activities and stablecoin lifecycle events.
- Enhance transaction monitoring and fraud detection infrastructure through rule setting, alert handling, quality assurance, and documentation aligned with regulatory standards.
- Ensure readiness for regulator and banking partner examinations, managing findings resolution according to timelines.
- Analyze AML alerts, suspicious behaviors, fraud, and transactional anomalies to identify emerging risks and recommend control improvements.
- Establish and improve fraud response procedures, including incident escalation and collaborative cross-team incident management.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects related to financial crimes, maintaining effective coordination among technical, legal, data, and operational teams.
- Monitor regulatory, legal, and industry changes in financial crime compliance and update programs to meet evolving requirements.
- Create and deliver comprehensive training on AML, sanctions, fraud awareness, and compliance mandates across the company.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments and reviews to identify vulnerabilities and improve control effectiveness.
- Act as a trusted advisor on AML, sanctions, KYC, and fraud risks within the organization, ensuring proper escalation of issues.
- Support internal audits and external examinations, coordinating corrective actions for any findings.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards for senior leadership to communicate program performance, risk indicators, and trends.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- 7 to 10+ years in financial crime compliance, AML/BSA, fraud risk management, or related functions within fintech, financial services, or regulated payment environments.
- In-depth working knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC/sanctions, KYC/CIP, CDD/EDD frameworks applicable to fintech and banking partnerships.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and enhancing financial crime controls, including governance and reporting structures.
- Expertise managing global and multi-jurisdictional AML/sanctions compliance programs.
- Practical experience in transaction monitoring and fraud detection program design, including development of alerts, rules, investigations, and playbooks.
- Strong data analysis capabilities to derive actionable insights for risk management.
- Builder’s mindset comfortable with evolving program structures and balancing compliance with practicality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence and educate across numerous teams and leadership.
