Role overview
Synchronous Group is expanding its building automation and switchboard operations in Australia, and this position is for a commercially focused finance leader to join the senior leadership group. The role is designed for someone who can go beyond conventional finance work and contribute directly to business direction through commercial analysis and strategic advice.
You will work closely with the CEO and act as a trusted partner on decisions that affect the wider group. The remit covers finance leadership across a growing collection of engineering, manufacturing, and service businesses, with responsibility for both high-level strategy and day-to-day financial execution.
Key focus areas
- Direct financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities across the business.
- Improve project financial outcomes and manage cash flow effectively.
- Strengthen and optimise the Odoo ERP environment while enhancing business systems.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team.
- Work with operational leaders to lift profitability and overall business performance.

Required background
- CA or CPA qualification, or an equivalent level of experience.
- Substantial senior-level finance leadership experience.
- Strong commercial judgement and analytical strength.
- Experience with multi-entity financial reporting.

- Prior work in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or project-based settings is highly valued.
Location and work setup
