Job description
About the Company
Besty AI is an AI-first operating system built for the short-term rental and hotel sector, a market worth more than $1T. The company is a seed-stage startup supported by Ridge Ventures, Grand Ventures, and Bungalow Capital. It has raised more than $6M from leaders connected to the Stanford and Berkeley AI labs, as well as backers of companies such as Discord, Fastly, Hugging Face, Covariant, and Replicate.
The company was started by a property manager who grew a portfolio from zero to 30 listings in under 10 months, an AI scientist from Yale, and a team of engineers focused on building a product that is valued by hundreds of paying hosts. Besty AI currently supports 10,000+ properties globally.
Role Overview
This is the first dedicated finance and operations position at Besty AI. The role reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for helping the company move from Seed toward Series B by strengthening internal processes, turning operational information into investor-ready reporting, and acting as a bridge between the CEO, CTO, and Board of Directors.
Financial Stewardship and Investor Communication
- Prepare board presentations and monthly KPI updates, and clearly explain core SaaS metrics such as Burn Multiple, LTV/CAC, and Sales/Marketing Efficiency to investors.
- Build and maintain the company’s financial model, including forecasting scenarios that inform hiring plans, spending decisions, and future fundraising strategy.
- Keep the company’s data organized and reliable so the business is always prepared for its next fundraising round.
Operational Systems and Scaling
- Set up the operating structure needed to grow revenue from $2M to tens of millions, including standardizing pricing and improving customer onboarding and implementation processes.
- Manage vendor onboarding, ensure contractual commitments are met, and handle enterprise security questionnaires and audits.
- Partner with the CEO and CTO to keep cross-functional work moving on time and make sure product delivery matches what is promised in contracts.
People Operations and Administration
- Handle core day-to-day administration such as payroll, HR administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and compliance records, including visa-related documentation for international team members.
- Assist with recruiting, coordinate with external recruiters, mentor junior team members, and help reinforce an entrepreneurial ownership culture.
Professional Background
- At least 4 years of experience in high-growth, venture-backed B2B SaaS companies.
- Experience at VP level or an equivalent senior finance and operations role with cross-functional ownership in a B2B SaaS environment.
- A proven history of guiding organizations through major growth stages, from Seed or Series A through Series B and beyond.
- Strong financial modeling ability plus the practical execution skills needed to manage HR and vendor negotiations.
- Prior ownership of P&L responsibilities and experience scaling a business in a fast-moving, high-performance setting.
- Background supporting fundraising efforts across early and later stages, including venture capital and venture debt.
- Strong communication skills and comfort speaking with board members and lead investors.
- Experience in hospitality or short-term rentals is beneficial but not required.
Personal Traits
- Leadership presence with the ability to influence and motivate people at all levels.
- Highly entrepreneurial, energetic, and driven to deliver strong results.
- Strategic mindset with experience building and executing rapid-growth plans.
- Skilled at building trust with vendors, customers, and investors through clear communication.
- Supports a culture centered on innovation, execution, teamwork, and accountability.
- Comfortable taking ownership of a wide variety of tasks in a seed-stage, all-hands environment.
Compensation and Equity
The base salary for this role is $150,000 to $200,000, with flexibility for the right candidate. Equity compensation is listed at 0.3% to 0.5%.
Location
This position is based in New York City and requires full in-person work.
