Overview
An outstanding leadership opportunity is open for a seasoned finance executive to join a top-tier global real assets investment manager. As Head of Finance - Direct Property, you'll report directly to the Group CFO and guide a skilled team of eight, overseeing financial operations for a diverse Australian property portfolio that includes listed REITs, unlisted funds, and the Australian Management Company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a finance team of eight, cultivating a collaborative and high-achieving environment.
- Manage all finance, accounting, and reporting functions for three listed REITs, two unlisted property funds, and the Australian Management Company.
- Ensure punctual and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports alongside statutory compliance.
- Deliver comprehensive management reporting and financial analysis to enable informed strategic decisions.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership, investment teams, and offshore partners to provide commercial financial insights.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Support capital transactions including acquisitions, divestments, and strategic initiatives.
- Manage banking relationships, debt reporting, and treasury functions.
- Maintain tax compliance, undertake tax planning, and coordinate with external advisers.
- Ensure strong governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks are upheld.
- Oversee relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and service providers.
- Drive finance transformation through technology, automation, and AI enhancements to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
- Build robust partnerships across the business to position finance as a trusted commercial advisor.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are seasoned finance leaders with extensive experience in institutional property, real estate fund management, or listed investment vehicles. They combine strong commercial insight with excellent stakeholder engagement and a track record of leading dynamic teams in complex investment settings. They are adept at balancing strategic oversight with detailed technical financial, governance, and compliance responsibilities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- CA or CPA certification with an Accounting, Commerce, or Finance degree.
- Minimum of 10 years in senior finance leadership roles.
- Proven background in property funds management, REITs, real estate investment, or asset management.
- Expertise in listed entity reporting, fund structures, and institutional investment platforms.
- Experience in leading sizable finance departments and nurturing high-performing teams.
- Familiarity with acquisitions, divestments, and strategic corporate transactions.
- Strong command of technical accounting, tax, governance, and financial controls.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial acumen with capacity to influence executives and investment professionals.
