Overview
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) seeks a leader to manage the Events Performance, Analysis, and Reporting unit within the Abu Dhabi Events Bureau's Events Strategy & Planning section. This role is responsible for supervising the evaluation, measurement, and reporting of all events to promote data-driven strategic decision-making, optimize returns on investment, and ensure alignment of event programming with financial and performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement performance measurement frameworks for all DCT-supported events that align with tourism, economic, cultural, and social objectives.
- Establish consistent key performance indicators to benchmark event impact and ensure uniformity across teams.
- Design long-term tracking methods to analyze event performance and their returns on investment.
- Supervise collection, review, and reporting of performance data, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and utility for decision-making.
- Employ data analysis tools to detect trends, assess risks, and identify opportunities, facilitating strategic leadership decisions.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate performance insights into future event planning and tourism development.
- Oversee financial aspects such as budgeting, cash flow, and investment assessments for events.
- Assess cost-effectiveness and return on investment of each event to assure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Work closely with Finance, Sponsorships, and Commercial teams to harmonize financial planning across departments.
- Translate functional strategies into unit business plans to ensure alignment vertically and horizontally with related sections.
- Lead and motivate the unit by setting clear objectives, managing performance, and fostering professional growth.
- Champion organizational values and ethics to cultivate a value-driven culture within the team.
- Enforce policies, procedures, and controls within the unit to meet procedural, legislative, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on sustainability, global best practices, productivity enhancements, and cost reductions.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant preparation of all unit reports according to DCT standards.
- Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations, promptly reporting issues and championing resource preservation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Five to seven years of experience in performance management, financial analysis, or strategic reporting, ideally within the public sector or events industry.
- At least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of event economics, public investment models, and tourism key performance indicators.
- Proven experience collaborating across functions and presenting to senior management; consultancy experience is advantageous.
Skills
- Expertise in advanced data analysis and interpretation techniques.
- Strong financial planning, forecasting, and modeling capabilities.
- Proficient in KPI development, monitoring, and performance evaluation.
- Effective strategic thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting platforms, such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
