Role Overview
The Head of Ecommerce will take ownership of the company’s digital storefront and guide its ongoing development. This person will be accountable for the site’s daily performance while also setting the direction for growth, profitability, and customer retention. The position combines strategic planning with day-to-day execution across merchandising, optimization, analytics, and platform oversight, working closely with Planning, Buying, Brand, Creative, Performance Marketing, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Core areas of focus include ecommerce strategy, website operations, merchandising, optimization, analytics, technology, and leadership.
- Set both near-term and long-range ecommerce plans that support revenue, margin, and customer objectives.
- Oversee the daily performance and stability of the Shopify Plus site.
- Manage site merchandising activities such as product launches, promotions, and content changes.
- Work with Planning and Buying teams to improve inventory visibility and support stronger sell-through.
- Lead conversion rate optimization initiatives, including A/B testing, personalization, and user experience enhancements.
- Create and maintain reports covering revenue, conversion rate, average order value, and other key website metrics.
- Turn performance data into actionable insights and clear business recommendations.
- Own search optimization fundamentals and contribute to AEO, GEO, and agentic commerce efforts.
- Define the ecommerce technology roadmap and manage external development partners.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing ecommerce team.
- Partner cross-functionally with Brand, Creative, Performance, Planning, Finance, and Operations to deliver cohesive digital experiences.
- Ideally lead retention initiatives, including email, SMS, and loyalty programs.
- Collaborate with CRM and performance teams on segmentation, automation, and personalization.
Required Experience and Background
This role calls for an experienced ecommerce leader with deep direct-to-consumer expertise and strong technical and analytical capability.
- 10 or more years of direct-to-consumer ecommerce experience, preferably in apparel or lifestyle categories.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Shopify Plus.
- Proven track record of lifting conversion, revenue, and customer lifetime value through experimentation and optimization.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to convert data into business action.
- Background managing outside developers and technology vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional partners.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, experimentation-driven environment.
- Preferred familiarity with Klaviyo, Attentive, and Algolia.
Work Location
This is a hybrid position based in Glendale, California, with an expectation of roughly three in-office days each week.
