Role Overview
KOHO is constructing an internal creative studio uniting campaigns, product storytelling, content, events, and advertising. The Head of Creative will collaborate with marketing leaders to establish a unified marketing vision and direct a multidisciplinary team including creative directors, designers, copywriters, and producers. This role combines creative leadership, organizational management, and talent cultivation, ensuring all creative output is outstanding and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities include directing creative strategy, overseeing creative outputs, managing freelance talent and agencies, establishing efficient processes, and maintaining close involvement with creative work when required.
Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this leader partners with various departments to link creative excellence with business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead KOHO’s multichannel creative vision across campaigns, product storytelling, content, and events, being accountable for business results
- Produce key creative pieces yourself, acting as a "player/coach"
- Manage and nurture a creative team spanning art directors, designers, copywriters, and producers
- Set and maintain creative standards, offering clear guidance on art direction and copy
- Collaborate with product marketing to transform briefs into compelling creative concepts
- Oversee photo and video productions alongside internal teams and freelance crews
- Coordinate freelance talent and agency partners during campaign peaks
- Develop creative workflows, review practices, and quality benchmarks as the creative department grows
- Present creative work to senior stakeholders with confidence and clarity
- Implement systems and review frameworks to ensure creative excellence at scale
Qualifications and Experience
- More than 15 years managing creative teams and organizations in dynamic, fast-paced environments, including agency experience or in-house teams functioning like agencies
- Portfolio demonstrating broad conceptual skills in both copy and art direction with impactful ideas across multiple media
- Understanding of the marketing ecosystem beyond creativity with experience working alongside product design to ensure coherence in brand design
- Experience directing video and motion projects, not limited to static and written content
- Active use of AI tools in creative processes
- Proven leadership in developing writers, art directors, and designers
- Deep expertise in copywriting, advertising, campaign execution, content creation, and production management
- Strong creative intuition supported by a diverse portfolio exhibiting conceptual excellence
- Capability to build effective teams, allocate resources, and establish operational systems ensuring productive work environments
- Exceptional communication skills for senior-level stakeholder engagement
- Visionary perspective on culture, storytelling, and brand development
Compensation and Culture
The expected salary range for this position is CAD 180,000 to 300,000 annually, with flexibility depending on experience and role seniority between Director and VP levels. KOHO is committed to transparency and equitable pay aligned with role requirements, skills, experience, and internal equity.
