About Faire
Faire is a technology-driven wholesale marketplace built around the idea that local businesses should have a stronger future. The company helps independent retailers discover products from around the world using data, machine learning, and modern technology to make wholesale more accessible and effective.
Faire’s mission is to support the shop-local movement by giving entrepreneurs better tools and insights so they can grow their businesses and strengthen their communities.
About the Role
Faire is entering an important new phase of growth and needs a creative leader who can help define a clearer, more unified brand point of view. The Head of Creative will guide the creative team and shape how the company’s story is expressed across every customer-facing touchpoint.
This person will act as the creative center of the business, combining strong creative judgment with business awareness and the ability to build trust across marketing, product, design, growth, sales, and leadership. The role leads designers, writers, producers, and creative operations partners while raising the quality of messaging and visual identity across the company.
The ideal candidate is both ambitious and practical, strategic and hands-on, and able to move quickly without compromising quality. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can inspire excellent work and ensure that creative output drives real business value.
What You’ll Do
- Guide, coach, and motivate a strong creative organization spanning design, copy, production, and creative operations, while maintaining a high standard of craft and team culture.
- Define Faire’s narrative and creative direction in partnership with marketing, product marketing, growth, product, sales, and company leadership.
- Strengthen the visual brand across campaigns, lifecycle messaging, performance marketing, product marketing, events, sales collateral, and executive communications.
- Build effective partnerships across the company so other teams understand the purpose of Creative and the business value of strong messaging and design.
- Use customer insight, creative experimentation, performance metrics, and strategic judgment to evaluate what is working and share improvements across the business.
- Make thoughtful tradeoffs between speed and polish based on business priorities, visibility, and customer impact.
- Improve the creative operating model by working with Creative Ops and Production on staffing, processes, agency and contractor strategy, and tools for a high-volume workload.
- Adopt emerging creative technologies, including AI, in ways that improve speed and output while protecting originality, taste, and brand quality.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience leading creative teams, ideally within a fast-growing technology, marketplace, consumer, or product-led company.
- Strong creative judgment across brand, design, storytelling, and campaign development, with the ability to explain what makes work effective.
- Hands-on experience building brand strategy, messaging, and customer narratives that simplify complex products for different stages of the funnel.
- Proven people leadership experience managing and developing designers, writers, producers, and/or creative operations talent.
- Experience collaborating with PMM, Growth, Product, Sales, and executive stakeholders to align on direction and handle changing priorities.
- Solid commercial understanding of how creative work affects company goals, customer behavior, and performance outcomes.
- Ability to prioritize effectively across a large creative queue and use contractors, agencies, technology, and process improvements to deliver at scale.
- A collaborative, low-ego leadership approach with strong communication, kindness, and clarity.
- Comfort using AI and other new creative tools, along with curiosity about how technology can improve workflows.
Compensation and Work Setup
The salary range for candidates based in California or New York City is $245,000 to $337,000 per year. The role is also eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay may vary depending on transferable skills, experience, market demand, and primary work location, and the stated range may change in the future.
Faire uses a hybrid model for employees who work in office-based roles: three days per week in the office on Tuesday, Thursday, and one flexible day selected from Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. Hybrid employees may also work remotely for up to four weeks each year. Some Workplace and Information Technology roles may require five days onsite, if specified in the posting.
Why You’ll Like Working at Faire
- Fast-moving work with meaningful ownership and clear results that affect customers around the world.
- Access to modern enterprise AI tools and other resources designed to help employees work more efficiently.
- A supportive team culture with thoughtful, talented colleagues who care about craft and growth.
- Competitive pay, equity, and comprehensive benefits that support both work and life.
- A workplace focused on belonging and equal access to opportunity, growth, and success.
