Role Overview
The Head of Consumer Social role is a leadership position within Newsweek's Social Team, charged with guiding traffic growth and engagement strategies across major consumer platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and X. This role also spearheads social video strategy and influencer-driven expansion collaborating closely with senior growth leadership. This full-time position operates from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with flexible work options including remote work within the UK or on-site at the Canary Wharf office in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy platform-tailored approaches to increase social referrals, boost user engagement, and maximize monetization across consumer social media platforms.
- Lead and evolve social video initiatives and growth efforts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels by partnering with video and multimedia teams.
- Plan and implement social marketing campaigns to promote Newsweek's original series, subscription services, and new offerings.
- Collaborate with Editorial, Audience, and Product divisions to drive projects enhancing newsroom workflow, digital presence, and audience interaction.
- Monitor social media performance data to identify and initiate improvements in engagement and referral metrics.
- Engage in A/B testing and apply findings to refine future social media posts and strategies.
- Foster community interaction and content amplification across social platforms.
- Work closely with video/multimedia teams and Growth Markets leadership to develop monetization methods and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Promote YouTube content on various social channels and support influencer-based audience growth aligned with newsroom objectives.
- Manage and mentor the social media team, including overseeing workload, prioritization, performance, and professional growth.
- Perform additional reasonable tasks as required to support company goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple social media platforms and building consumer engagement and monetization in a global news environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, representing the company professionally across diverse channels.
- Strong competence in analyzing social media metrics and interpreting campaign data to optimize strategies.
- Knowledge of UK data protection laws and advertising standards to ensure compliant and ethical content production.
- Leadership capabilities to motivate a team, inspire creativity, and coordinate innovative social media campaigns.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines effectively.
