Job description

Role overview

This position is for a proactive Head of Community to grow a developer community from the ground up for a fast-scaling developer infrastructure startup. The company helps businesses deploy software and AI agents directly into customer cloud environments, creating access to valuable enterprise data. It is backed by $5M in seed funding from leading venture capital firms and angel investors associated with OpenAI, Google, and Databricks. The team is intentionally small and highly capable, and the product is being positioned as a modern, AI-era alternative to traditional infrastructure-as-code tools.

The role is remote within the United States, with San Francisco, CA preferred as the base location. It is a full-time position with compensation in the $110,000 to $170,000 range, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Own the planning and delivery of developer meetups and hackathons in the San Francisco / Bay Area every two months, handling venue selection, speaker outreach, logistics, and post-event follow-up.
  • Bring in respected speakers, co-hosts, and partners from the developer infrastructure ecosystem to ensure each event offers meaningful technical depth.
  • Grow and actively manage the online community, especially Slack, through genuine, high-quality engagement rather than promotional or automated messaging.
  • Build strong relationships across the developer tools and infrastructure landscape so the company stays closely connected to builders, startups, and key industry conversations.
  • Convert community activity, event participation, and online engagement into qualified leads and customer discussions that support the sales pipeline.

What the company is looking for

  • 0 to 5 years of experience in community building, event management, or field marketing within developer tools, DevOps, or developer infrastructure.
  • A strong foothold in the developer infrastructure ecosystem, along with an existing network of builders, engineers, and relevant companies.
  • A proven ability to run developer-focused events end to end and turn community interest into measurable business opportunities.
  • A scrappy, self-driven, and resourceful working style suited to a lean startup environment with limited structure and budget.
  • Based in the United States and able to travel to San Francisco every two months for events; Bay Area residency is strongly preferred.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base pay of $110,000 to $170,000 per year.
  • A competitive early-stage equity package.
  • Remote-first work setup within the United States.
  • Travel support for recurring San Francisco meetups and events.
  • Early-employee ownership and direct collaboration with the founder.

Interview process

  • A 30-minute introductory call with the Founder/CEO to discuss experience, motivation, and fit.
  • A 90-minute hands-on working session with the Founder/CEO to assess communication, problem-solving, and collaboration style.
  • A final alignment review followed by a formal offer if successful.

Application outcome

Because a large number of applications is expected, the employer may not be able to provide individual feedback to every applicant. If there is no response within 4 weeks after applying, candidates should assume they were not selected for this round.

Equality, accessibility, and data handling

The employer states a commitment to equal opportunity, accessibility, and an inclusive hiring process. Reasonable adjustments can be requested during any stage of recruitment, and the job advert can be provided in an accessible format on request. Recruitment-related personal data, including contact details, work history, resumes, and similar information, is collected and processed only for hiring purposes, stored securely, and handled in line with applicable data protection requirements. Data may be shared with clients and trusted partners only when needed for recruitment. Candidates may request deletion of their data or withdraw consent by contacting the provided legal email address.
