Head of Business Finance - Cargo

Overview

Join Qatar Airways' Cargo division as the Head of Business Finance, acting as a key financial partner and main point of contact for senior management within Cargo. This role involves fostering strong stakeholder relationships through insightful financial reporting, analytics, and providing recommendations to enhance profitability for both business and finance teams. Bridging finance with business operations, you will ensure alignment with Qatar Airways' accounting procedures while serving as a crucial liaison across the group.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the formulation of Qatar Airways Group's strategic goals by guiding resource allocation and delivering valuable insights to senior leadership.
• Develop strategic financial plans and budgets, equipping management with critical data to assess financial health and guide ongoing revenue management for enduring profit growth.
• Offer counsel to the CFO and senior finance leaders on matters including financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, investment priorities, and policies.
• Facilitate strong communication and collaboration between the Finance department and Cargo senior management.
• Integrate market insights into strategic plans to maintain a focus on achieving competitive advantages.
• Conduct detailed financial analyses encompassing regular KPI reporting, investment cost evaluations, financing considerations, revenue and cost forecasting, manpower impact assessments, sensitivity analyses, and investment metrics such as EVA, IRR, NPV, and payback periods, while identifying potential risks and opportunities.
• Provide objective financial perspectives and sound recommendations on resource deployment to meet Cargo Revenue Management objectives efficiently.
• Incorporate forecasting into organizational processes, accounting for significant risks and opportunities arising from routine operations.
• Lead team efforts to determine investment priorities, prepare comprehensive business cases evaluating costs, benefits, risks, alignment with strategic goals, and validate ROI and NPV of projects.
• Raise financial awareness among senior business managers via transparent and reliable reporting, emphasizing key performance indicators and messages.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least ten years of relevant professional experience.
• Have five years of experience in airline management and demonstrated people leadership skills.
• Background as a Finance Business Partner supporting Commercial Revenue Management teams in large, structured airline environments is preferred.
• Strong familiarity with airline operations, especially commercial aspects, and an understanding of route profitability principles and tools.
• Proficient in English with excellent analytical abilities to interpret financial variances and business cycle impacts on profit and loss accounts.
• Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities, adept at cross-organizational collaboration.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, integrity, transparency, and a team-oriented mindset.
