Role overview
The Head of Business Development is responsible for advancing the organization’s growth agenda by spotting, shaping, and delivering new business opportunities. The role works closely with teams across the business to expand revenue, strengthen market presence, and make sure commercial efforts support broader enterprise goals.
This position is centered on market intelligence, relationship building, and driving business development initiatives from concept through execution. Success in the role is measured by revenue performance, the growth of strategic partnerships, and the ability to turn market opportunities into tangible business results.
What you will do
- Help define and roll out business development plans that support enterprise strategy and growth priorities.
- Research markets and assess industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
- Contribute to business cases, forecasts, and performance measures that inform strategic decisions.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and supporting materials for prospective partnerships and initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and progress new opportunities in the BioPharma and Research sectors.
- Support the creation and execution of sales and market-entry approaches that drive revenue growth.
- Work with internal stakeholders to align products and services with market demand and strategic direction.
- Help meet revenue targets and other key performance indicators.
- Develop and sustain relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders in the industry.
- Assist with negotiating and finalizing commercial agreements and partnerships.
- Engage stakeholders to understand their needs and match them with appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with strategy, sales, marketing, operations, legal, and finance teams to execute initiatives effectively.
- Support project management for critical initiatives and track progress against timelines and goals.
- Help resolve dependencies, risks, and execution challenges through cross-functional coordination.
- Prepare reports and business updates covering activities, performance metrics, and market insights.
- Use data and analytics to guide decisions and improve the impact of business development efforts.
- Ensure work complies with relevant policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in business development, commercial strategy, or a related field, including leadership exposure.
- Proven track record of supporting revenue growth and strategic partnership initiatives.
- Strong capability in analysis, communication, and problem-solving.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively across functions to deliver outcomes.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment while balancing multiple priorities.
- Equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
- Preferred: MBA or a master’s degree in a related area.
- Preferred: Background in healthcare or life sciences.
- Preferred: Experience creating proposals, negotiating agreements, and supporting commercial transactions.
- Preferred: Familiarity with CRM and analytics platforms such as Salesforce and Tableau.
- Preferred: Experience leading or supporting high-performing teams.
