Role Overview
Fido is looking for an experienced business development leader to support the growth of its digital financial services in Uganda. This person will help expand the business by launching new and existing products, building strategic alliances, encouraging innovation, and carrying out market analysis to guide growth decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Product team to shape new offerings and solutions in line with the company roadmap.
- Study the market and customer needs to help define effective product solutions for Fido users.
- Find, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships that support the rollout of roadmap products.
- Create and sustain strong working relationships with partners, regulators, and key people in the industry.
- Represent the company in external negotiations and business discussions.
- Collect competitive intelligence and evaluate industry developments and trends.
- Use market and business insights to improve strategy and identify opportunities for growth.
- Design and execute plans for scaling both existing products and new launches.
- Support efforts to secure debt funding for expansion plans.
- Build a cooperative, performance-focused team environment.
- Guide, coach, and lead a high-performing business development team.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in business strategy, product development, digital banking, fintech, and partnerships.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a closely related discipline; a master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated success in helping develop innovative digital financial products and services.
- Strong background in identifying, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships.
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to conduct product research and surface useful insights before launch.
- Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting data and market intelligence.
- Comfort using data to make decisions and shape strategy.
- Good understanding of finance concepts and products such as budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of Uganda’s fintech and financial services regulatory environment.
