About the role

This is a full-time, on-site leadership position responsible for the overall performance of back-of-house operations. The person in this role must be a subject matter expert in either Engineering & Sustainability or Housekeeping & Stewarding. The job focuses on keeping the hotel’s operational systems efficient, sustainable, and fully aligned with safety, hygiene, and environmental requirements. It also covers oversight of essential systems, cleanliness, maintenance, and support functions that influence guest satisfaction and the property’s long-term performance.

Key responsibilities

• Set the direction for Engineering & Sustainability and Housekeeping & Stewarding, making sure all back-of-house activities work together smoothly.
• Create and roll out practical improvements that strengthen efficiency, raise cleanliness and hygiene standards, and support sustainability while helping control costs.
• Take the lead on projects that reduce operational exposure through stronger internal audit processes.
• Drive Green Mark certification and renewal efforts, sustainability targets, and best practices in line with company frameworks and applicable government rules.
• Oversee renovation and asset enhancement work while keeping hotel disruption to a minimum and maintaining quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
• Lead or support taskforces covering innovation, sustainability, productivity, workplace safety and health, or similar initiatives, contributing operational guidance and helping cross-functional projects succeed.
• Own budget control for the department, manage operating costs, and ensure performance targets are met.
• Handle contracts, licenses, vendor performance, and regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and manage CAPEX and OPEX proposals that back operational upgrades and sustainability initiatives.
• Recruit, manage discipline, review performance, and develop team members to build a capable and service-focused workforce.
• Approve timesheets and leave, coordinate staff schedules, and make sure manpower is used effectively.
• Carry out regular inspections, hygiene audits, and spot checks to ensure strict compliance with safety, cleanliness, maintenance, and sustainability standards.
• Ensure chemicals and hazardous substances are handled in accordance with the Chemical Act, Hazardous Substances Act, and all related safety requirements.
• Manage hotel audits, close out non-conformities promptly, and maintain compliance with operational and service standards.
• Support crisis response and risk management by implementing emergency procedures, investigating incidents, and putting corrective actions in place to protect guests and employees.
• Oversee preventive room maintenance, equipment upkeep, and Fire Command Centre operations.
• Contribute to strategic planning and operational audits that support ongoing departmental improvements.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Additional information

This role is based in Singapore and requires on-site presence. The position is for a hotel environment with direct responsibility for back-of-house functions and operational compliance.
