Job description

Role Overview

This opportunity is for a senior AI leader to drive enterprise-grade artificial intelligence initiatives for banking and technology environments in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role calls for a seasoned professional who can shape AI strategy, lead delivery, and work closely with executive stakeholders as well as technical teams.

Professional Background

Applicants should bring more than 15 years of experience across IT services or banking technology, including at least 5 years leading AI/ML delivery or AI product initiatives. A strong history of delivering live AI solutions in large banking organizations is required; this is not a role for advisory-only or proof-of-concept experience.

Hands-on delivery with large language models is important, including open-source models such as QWEN, LLaMA, and Mistral, along with prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and model fine-tuning. Prior exposure to GCC or Middle East banking institutions is valuable, and familiarity with leading banks in Saudi Arabia or the UAE is preferred.

The profile should also include depth in at least two of these areas: AI-supported testing, intelligent RPA, AI applications in banking operations, and conversational AI for financial services.

Technical Expertise

The role requires practical knowledge of both open-source and cloud-based LLM ecosystems, including Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude. Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, and Chroma, as well as RAG architecture, is expected.

Strong capability in GPU and inference planning is important, including VRAM sizing, quantization methods like GGUF and GPTQ, optimization tools such as vLLM and Ollama, and on-premise LLM deployment.

Experience in hybrid AI architecture is needed, especially where data residency, sovereignty, and cloud scalability must be balanced. Exposure to MLOps platforms such as Azure AI Studio, AWS SageMaker, or Google Vertex AI is also relevant.

Domain knowledge in banking AI use cases is essential, including KYC/AML, credit risk, fraud detection, automation of regulatory reporting, AI-assisted testing, and intelligent document processing.

Experience with agentic AI, including multi-agent frameworks, enterprise workflow design, and evaluation of AI platforms, will strengthen the profile.

Leadership and Commercial Strengths

The person in this role must be comfortable presenting AI vision and strategy to senior leadership while also collaborating effectively with ML engineers and delivery teams. Strong commercial thinking is needed for ROI modelling, pricing of AI-enabled services, and monitoring productivity KPIs.

Experience managing multi-vendor AI delivery setups and negotiating third-party tooling agreements is required. Bilingual ability in English and Arabic, including Modern Standard Arabic and/or Gulf dialect, is essential for this engagement.

Location

This is a full-time onsite role based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
