Role overview

As Head of Accounting & Tax, you will take full ownership of the Accounting function for the roadsurfer Group and guide the team through an important phase of transformation. Reporting to the CFO, you will be part of a broader finance organisation that includes Accounting, Tax, Controlling, Corporate Finance, and Finance Operations.

This is a build-and-shape role rather than a maintenance role: you will help define a scalable accounting structure, turn the demands of a fast-scaling company into stable and audit-ready processes, and play a major part in the rollout of SAP as the central ERP system.

What you will do

• Lead the Group Accounting function and ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with German GAAP (HGB).
• Oversee tax compliance across the entire roadsurfer business.
• Manage, develop, and organise the accounting team, while creating a culture of clear accountability and dependable close cycles.
• Build an accounting setup that can scale, uses data effectively, and supports an AI-oriented finance environment through automation, defined process ownership, and strong data quality.
• Take a central role in the SAP implementation across accounting, from process design and testing through go-live and the stabilisation phase afterward.
• Act as the main point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and public authorities, and coordinate the audit process.
• Work closely with Controlling, Corporate Finance, and Finance Operations to advance automation and digitalisation in accounting.

What you need

• Several years of relevant accounting experience, including responsibility for preparing financial statements under German GAAP (HGB).
• Proven experience leading an accounting team.
• A solid accounting background, such as a degree in finance or accounting, or an equivalent qualification like Bilanzbuchhalter / certified accountant.
• Practical experience with SAP and finance transformation initiatives; ideally, you have supported an SAP implementation or migration from the accounting side.
• A structured, hands-on leadership style with the ability to establish scalable processes in a changing environment.
• Interest in automation, AI-supported finance workflows, and process improvements driven by data.
• Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a solution-oriented approach.
• Fluency in English and good command of German.
