Role overview
For the site in Cottbus, this position combines practical trade skills with a broad view of daily building operations. You will support the smooth functioning of the facilities, taking care of routine maintenance, minor repairs, outdoor areas, and winter safety measures. The assignment is based at Werner-Seelenbinder-Ring 44, 03048 Cottbus, Brandenburg, and is offered as a fixed-term role. The working scope is flexible or negotiable.

Responsibilities
- Create and maintain inventory, issue, and order lists for facility management.
- Coordinate with the local property/immovable assets department.
- Carry out duties related to traffic safety compliance on the premises.
- Check for pest infestations and, when needed, arrange specialist contractors.
- Maintain the outdoor grounds and landscaped areas.
- Install child safety devices where required.
- Take care of supervisory duties such as ventilating rooms, monitoring temperatures in vacant spaces, reporting damage, and recording/reading utility-related data.
- Inspect the safety condition of buildings and grounds on a daily basis, including adjacent access paths and walkways.
- Monitor windows, doors, locking mechanisms, and glass panes.
- Check electrical systems such as lighting, sockets, and switches.
- Inspect heating systems, including thermostats, radiator mounts, and venting devices.
- Review sanitary installations such as taps, sinks, toilets, and shower fittings.
- Watch drainage systems for existing or potential blockages.
- Check fire extinguishers, required inspection intervals, and glass panels on fire alarm manual call points.
- Inspect electrical appliances in communal areas daily, especially washing machines, dryers, and electric hot plates/stoves.
- Secure hazards at short notice and document completed work.
Requirements
- Completed vocational training in a trade, along with practical manual skills beyond the original profession.
- Good technical understanding and a willingness to learn how on-site technical systems operate.
- Openness to further training and professional development.
- Valid category B driving licence.
- Identification with the principles and values of the Johanniter organisation.
