About the organization
Sachsenforst is the largest forestry employer in Saxony and the state’s biggest manager of natural resources in the Saxon state forest. With around 1,400 employees, it ensures forest management that is both sustainable and environmentally focused.
Role overview
In this position, you will help keep buildings, facilities, and outdoor areas running smoothly and in good condition. The role combines technical checks, maintenance coordination, minor repairs, outdoor upkeep, and support for events and training operations.
Key duties
- Inspect buildings, facilities, and outdoor areas for faults and repair needs, including monitoring the building management system.
- Report repair requirements and assist in coordinating maintenance and repair work.
- Check that buildings and exterior areas remain safe for use and initiate corrective action when defects are found.
- Organize maintenance and repair activities, including regular inspections such as fire doors, passenger lifts, and emergency lighting, and maintain inspection records.
- Help identify the need for building maintenance work.
- Carry out minor repairs.
- Maintain walkways, green areas, and other outdoor surfaces, and assist with winter services.
- Support waste and refuse disposal activities.
- Assist in training and professional development activities, including organizing events and catering at the training center, as well as setting up office, course, and work rooms.
- Manage the locking system.
- Serve as the designated safety officer and hazardous substances officer.
What the employer offers
The role is classified for employees under pay grade 4 of the TV-L collective agreement, with eligibility for pay grade 5 possible if the required personal qualifications are met. Requirements
You should have completed vocational training in a relevant skilled trade, for example electrical work, plumbing/heating/air conditioning, metalwork, carpentry, or a similar field. A Category B driving licence is required, along with basic computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role also calls for physical resilience and very good German language skills, at least at C1 level, in both spoken and written form.
Preferred qualifications
Helpful extras include several years of relevant experience with building management systems and facility management, completed certificate courses related to caretaker responsibilities, a Category C or CE driving licence, and a Category T driving licence.
