Role overview
KBS is hiring immediately for a permanent Handyperson position in a fast-moving setting where you will help keep the workplace safe, orderly, and operational. Starting pay is $14 per hour.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out assigned work in line with standard procedures and the building's operating schedule.
- Clean rooms, corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and windows.
- Sweep floors, remove debris, clean spills, and mop areas across the sales floor and seating spaces.
- Monitor trash containers regularly and empty them when needed across the site.
- Collect recycling, combine materials as needed, and place them into the correct bins.
- Clean glass and mirrored surfaces and polish stainless-steel fixtures.
- Dust shelves, fixtures, and products as required.
- Keep customer and team-member restrooms clean and stocked, including policing them as needed.
- Maintain sweep logs when directed.
- Use and sanitize equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow health, sanitation, and safe-work procedures at all times.
- Dust furniture and equipment.
- Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
- Perform minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing fixes.
- Carry out touch-up and finishing paint work.
- Empty wastebaskets.
- Restock restroom supplies.
- Replace light bulbs.
- Arrange and remove chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings and functions.
- Observe all safety rules and procedures.
- Report completed work daily, either verbally or through written work orders.
Requirements
- You should be able to communicate clearly with customers and managers.
- You need the ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and chemical handling documentation, usually in English and sometimes in Spanish where required by law.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks are important.
- A minimum of 3 years of building-maintenance experience is required.
- All non-exempt employees must download and use the KBSPresence mobile app on a personal device for timekeeping, attendance tracking, training access, and work-related communications.
- Where local law allows, cell phone reimbursement is provided to help cover the use of a personal device for job-related tasks.
