Role Overview
The Guest Service Officer plays a key part in creating a positive guest experience by delivering attentive hospitality, responsive support, and clear communication. The role calls for a polished professional who can manage guest interactions with care, take ownership of requests, and contribute to the overall reputation of the department and company through consistently high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, professional guest service with a strong focus on hospitality and customer satisfaction.
- Handle guest requests proactively and look for ways to add value to day-to-day service delivery.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and an appropriate demeanor at all times.
- Communicate clearly with guests, department leaders, and shipboard team members to resolve concerns and reach suitable solutions.
- Support smooth front-line operations by using sound judgment, organization, and effective decision-making.
- Operate standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines as needed.
Hiring Requirements
The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of experience in a guest-facing or customer contact role in a hotel or a closely related industry. A minimum of 1 year of cash handling experience is also required, along with familiarity with US currency and exchange rates. Strong customer service ability is essential, including the capacity to interact with guests in a courteous, professional, and positive manner while listening actively and showing genuine concern.
Applicants must be able to communicate tactfully with guests, department heads, and shipboard employees in order to resolve issues and negotiate workable outcomes. Basic proficiency with office equipment is necessary. A high school qualification or basic education equivalency is preferred.
Language Requirements
The role requires the ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Mandarin. This is needed to understand written procedures, follow and provide verbal and written instructions, present information clearly, and respond effectively to questions from guests, supervisors, and coworkers.
