Job description
About the role
In this position, you will take charge of a team of development engineers working in General Engineering & Field Camps as well as catering systems. You will provide both technical and disciplinary leadership while helping shape the direction of complex mobile special-purpose systems.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and guide a team of development engineers, including both functional and disciplinary management.
- Own the design and development of sophisticated mobile special systems, such as container- and module-based solutions, from the first concept through to production readiness.
- Plan team resources and capacity, and oversee the translation of tactical requirement specifications into detailed 3D models.
- Coordinate key project phases, including prototypes and field testing.
- Act as the main technical contact for public-sector clients, armed forces, and aid organizations, while coordinating closely with project management, service, and manufacturing teams internally.
- Work with purchasing and suppliers to evaluate technical feasibility, optimize costs through design-to-cost approaches, and review your team’s calculations.
Requirements
- Completed technical degree, for example in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or industrial engineering with a focus on design engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Several years of solid experience in systematic design or development within special-purpose equipment manufacturing, ideally involving containerized or highly mobile systems.
- Initial leadership experience, or clear readiness and potential to step into a team leadership role.
- Experience in working with public-sector clients, the armed forces, civil or disaster protection organizations, or international military stakeholders is a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of CAD systems, preferably CATIA V5, and experience with ERP systems such as SAP R/3.
- Excellent communication skills in English at a negotiation-ready level, along with an innovative mindset that helps you challenge and develop your team.
Benefits
- Annual employer contribution to a company pension plan, with the option to increase it through your own contributions.
- Additional special payments, including anniversary awards, target-based bonuses, and other extra compensation.
- Up to 32 days of vacation, plus time off on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
- Structured talent management and a broad range of training and development opportunities to support your growth.
- Paid time away for extended parental leave, caregiving leave, further education leave, or a sabbatical, depending on your personal situation.
