Job description

About Instacart

Instacart is rethinking how people access groceries and household essentials. The company aims to make it easier for customers to get the food they want while also creating flexible earning opportunities for personal shoppers. The team supports a service that many people depend on, and it continues to build on that mission with a focus on scale, reliability, and community impact.

Instacart follows a Flex First approach, which means employees can choose the environment where they work best, whether that is home, an office, or another location, while still staying connected through regular in-person gatherings.

Role Overview

The Growth Partnerships team manages a strategic portfolio of long-term relationships across media, travel, financial services, and loyalty. This position is responsible for leading key partner accounts from day-to-day performance through senior relationship management and renewal negotiations. The work combines commercial strategy with operational delivery, and it directly supports customer acquisition growth and Instacart+ distribution.

First-Year Outcomes

  • Run a strong partnership portfolio that delivers measurable results, stays aligned to contract commitments, and improves over time through continuous optimization.
  • Lead renewal and renegotiation discussions that create added value, including building deal models with Finance and Legal and closing agreements that support both sides’ priorities.
  • Keep cross-functional work moving by coordinating with Legal, Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Finance, while flagging issues early and resolving them quickly.
  • Build credibility with partner organizations at multiple levels, including senior leaders, and represent Instacart confidently in business reviews and industry events.
  • Create a forward-looking multi-year strategy for each partnership by identifying expansion opportunities and aligning internal and external stakeholders around long-term plans.

What You Need

The ideal candidate is a reliable, highly strategic operator who works comfortably at the intersection of negotiation and execution. You should be able to own partnerships with limited oversight, make thoughtful decisions independently, and know when to involve the right stakeholders to move work forward.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in partnerships, business development, or strategic account management, with a history of managing complex relationships across multiple stakeholders from start to finish.
  • Proven skill in shaping and negotiating commercial agreements, including the ability to build deal models alongside Finance and Legal teams.
  • Strong relationship-building ability, with confidence earning trust across different levels of a partner organization and handling difficult discussions with tact.
  • Ability to coordinate smoothly across Legal, Product, Marketing, and Finance while maintaining momentum and requiring little supervision.
  • Comfort working through operational complexity across a large and active portfolio of partnerships.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in financial services, media, travel, entertainment, or loyalty, especially with an understanding of subscription and membership-led partnership models.
  • Experience with co-marketing budgets, incentive funding, or customer acquisition investment decisions.
  • Ability to adapt and perform well in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a remote full-time role. Compensation is location-based and market competitive. The position is also eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants. The final offer may vary depending on experience and role requirements.

For US-based candidates, the base salary ranges are:

  • California, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey: USD 191,000 to 201,500
  • Washington: USD 183,000 to 193,000
  • Oregon, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Hawaii: USD 175,000 to 184,500
  • All other states: USD 159,000 to 168,000
