Job description
Role overview
This role is focused on leading water technology initiatives across multiple sites, with an emphasis on reliability, efficiency, cost control, sustainability, and regulatory adherence. The position supports both existing operations and new projects by ensuring water availability, improving treatment processes, and advancing digital transformation in water systems.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen the reliability and operational efficiency of water systems across all locations.
- Secure water supply for upcoming projects in a way that remains economically viable.
- Lead the adoption of modern wastewater treatment approaches and methods.
- Compare RIL water systems with industry benchmarks to improve cost effectiveness.
- Increase water reuse, maintain water balance across sites, and progress toward zero liquid discharge (ZLD).
- Conduct utility system audits across sites and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
- Spot improvement gaps and support the shift toward IIOT and digitalization of water systems.
- Assess utility budgets and water-specific consumption benchmarks for all sites.
- Improve energy performance of utility systems and reduce dependence on high-cost chemicals.
- Identify and execute Profit Improvement Opportunity (PIO) projects for utility systems at site level.
- Develop and coach a strong water technology team with a culture of innovation and technical depth.
- Work with industry partners, research bodies, and government organizations to encourage collaboration.
Core competencies
- Strong knowledge of chemical water treatment, boiler feed water, effluent treatment plants, desalination, and reverse osmosis systems.
- Clear understanding of the current and future water technology landscape.
- Ability to operate with an entrepreneurial and ownership-driven mindset.
- Well-developed program management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in techno-economic evaluation, lifecycle assessment, and sustainability analysis.
- Background in petrochemical, refining, or engineering environments.
- Working knowledge of water recycling systems and modern treatment methods.
- Exposure to digitalization initiatives in water utilities.
- Strong leadership and people management capability.
Qualification
A B.E. or B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering is required.
